Yeah, I understand, I've been there too. Eventually, we went self-publishing, took a lot more time and effort, but in the end, it was worth it.
You know the fact that you're still thinking about trying again shows just how much this means to you. And that matters. Sometimes (though most time) the right path isn’t super clear or fancy. So, just keep going.

End of last year, I sent out dozens of manuscripts and proposals – to all kinds of publishers. And the response? Nothing. Not even a rejection. Just silence. That kind of silence messes with your head. You start doubting everything – your voice, your story, your timing.

I also looked into self-publishing, but being a full-time employee, it just doesn’t feel realistic. I could invest some money, yes – but trying to figure out which services are actually legit? It’s a maze of Google reviews, unclear websites, and way too much half-knowledge.

Then a few weeks ago, I randomly picked up a book at a local bookstore that was published through Novum Publishing. And weirdly, that gave me a little hope. It’s not a major publishing house, but it’s not total DIY either. Maybe there’s something in-between that could actually work.

So yeah, I’m not there yet – but I’m thinking about trying again. Reading your words reminded me that I’m not alone in this weird, frustrating, beautiful journey. And honestly, I needed that.

Wow, what an incredible journey you've had as an author!

The story about officiating a wedding is just heartwarming. It goes to show how the world of writing can lead to unexpected and beautiful connections.

And I agree, it's a momentous achievement that transforms your identity in the most wonderful way.

I'm the author of six books. I was a journalist most of my adult life and didn't feel I had a book in me. Encouraged by friends, I wrote my first book, then five followed (including two that got picked up for second printings!)
Nevertheless, nothing beats how great you feel after the first one is published. You get up in the morning and the first thought in your head is "I'm an author." It's so surreal. And the journey that goes with it is incredible. You never know where a book can take you. (Example, a young woman at one of my first book signings really enjoyed my book and wanted me to officiate her wedding because at my book signing, she was on a date -- and a year later he proposed to her! It was one of the best weddings I've ever been to!)
