There’s nothing much to say about the education system in India. It’s quite complex to explain it whole. It requires a lot more efforts and critical analysis to understand it better. But ironically everyone knows about the defect in the education system.
We’ve probably heard it many times like education given in schools and colleges is isolated from life and about curriculum, traditional methods and so on. But today I just want to add on one more defect which is now trending all over India. It’s about strikes in the universities.
As I’m from Delhi University and currently it’s my 6th semester and from previous 3 years, since I entered the college, I have seen strikes, regular suspension of classes, delays in the curriculum in each and every semester. It felt like it’s the part of semesters. I know every DU student can relate to me. As now the teacher’s strike is going on. It not only affects the lectures but the whole semester and then the whole year.
First, let me clear one thing. I’m not saying that they don’t have to strike. It’s their right, duty & responsibility for going against the wrong. But not at the cost of the student’s future.
Professors. They are privileged people, having a government job and earning a regular salary every month. But still, for some benefits they’re risking student’s career. That doesn’t seem good and that’s not their ‘Dharma’. In this very crucial age when we need guidance more than ever. At least you people have a job but Student doesn’t have that. Don’t ruin their future. Don’t involve them into this.
Actually, you people proved that self-study is the best, self-help is the best. Students are learning by their own efforts. What’s the use of universities then. Shut It. For now, colleges are just a place for some entertainment or nothing else & that’s how our new India is.

The sad reality of today’s education system which no one talks about and no demonstrator will raise voice against it. This business-minded management are making the system much more worst.
It’s the request that if you don’t want to make a student’s future at least make them a good demonstrator so they can earn their livelihood because that’s what is going in our country. I think strikes can be a new subject for career-making. Right?
Stop doing politics in the educational institution because it sucks. Really is. And we’ve already wasted 3 years and there is no time for caution now.

It is not as easy as you said that professors are privileged because they’ve a govt. job. There are troubles that they are facing. Although I agree it shouldn’t be at cost of students’ future but the world is not binary, there are multiple factors. Taking a step against something that they feel to be unjust must have a bad effect on something else but that’s how life functions.

I also believe the philosophy of ‘No Pain No Gain’. But the truth is everyone is facing some trouble in life because that’s how life functions. Taking step against something isn’t bad but risking student’s future is bad. Going against wrong isn’t bad but going against the responsibility is bad. To say you have no choice is to relieve yourself of responsibility.
And I appreciate your response.

What your thoughts about the Defects in Education system? Does strikes should be count in this or not?

Yes. It should be count. If strikes are affecting the education than why not?

Your distress is obvious. Why do India’s college professors feel the need to strike? Are they attempting to protect student rights to any extent? Are students refunded their tuition when strikes occur? This is clearly a difficult situation.

That’s Indian education system for you. But I’m still saying that they have a right to strike if something is wrong in the system.
But it’s also a fact that doing strikes by risking student’s future itself made them wrong in system.
