And I think, in my case, every Diwali is full of such memories and anecdotes with my family and friends. It feels like “I’m the chosen one” for all the Diwali chaos there is in the universe. And believe me, most of the time – it’s because of my relatives.

Therefore, every year I come up with a brilliant plan to survive the relative’s journey to our home. However, it is different that it all goes in vain at the end of the day. But I think I must share those tactics with you all, maybe, just maybe, it’ll work for you if you’re in the same place as me.

Some of My Diwali Mishaps

I remember last to last year my parents hosted Diwali for the extended family. My mother, a perfectionist to the core, had spent weeks planning and decorating the house. However, the universe had other plans.

As the guests arrived, the doorbell rang constantly, I don’t remember exactly if the doorbell had gone mad or otherwise. And then, my aunt (can’t tell her name, surely she’s reading this), known for her clumsiness, tripped over a stray diya, sending a cascade of oil and glitter across the newly polished floor.

This doesn’t stop here, my cousin, a mischievous six-year-old, decided to experiment with the diyas, turning the living room into a smoky haze. So, It was quite a Diwali celebration that year.

On another Diwali, my brother, tasked with lighting the diyas, got a little overzealous, creating a miniature fireworks display in the living room.

One year, my family decided to deep clean the house before Diwali, vowing to leave no stone unturned. We moved furniture, pulled out appliances, and even tackled the dreaded attic.

However, the ambitious cleaning spree resulted in a layer of dust settling everywhere, making the house look dirtier than before. I was happy that my parent yelled at me and my brother that day for no reason

And then one Diwali, my cousin got so excited during the puja that he accidentally knocked over a bowl of holy water. It splashed all over my grandmother’s antique rug, and we watched in horror as she yelled, “The spirits are not going to be happy about this!”

The Art of Survival

So, how do you survive the relatives and in-laws visiting your home during Diwali?

Tip 1. Remember, the relative invasion is temporary

They will eventually pack their bags, return to their homes, and leave you to your peaceful existence. Until then, take solace in the fact that you are not alone. Every family goes through this Diwali ritual, and we all come out stronger (or at least more resilient) on the other side.

Tip 2. Designate a “safe zone”

Create a quiet corner in your home where you can escape the festivities for a few minutes of peace and solitude.

Tip 3. Master the Art of Nodding and Smiling

When you have no idea what your great-uncle is talking about, just nod and smile knowingly. Who knows, he might be discussing ancient Sanskrit poetry or just giving you directions to the nearest grocery store. Nodding works either way.

Tip 4. Keep a “Random Trivia” Notebook

Create a notebook filled with random trivia and facts. Whenever a conversation takes an awkward turn, casually interject with a bizarre fact like, “Did you know honey never spoils?”

Tip 6. Invest in a noise-canceling headset.

For those moments when the conversations get too loud or the opinions too strong, having a noise-cancelling headset handy can be a lifesaver.

[Please note none of these has worked for me, they always overpowered my ideas]

To be honest, despite the chaos and mishaps, Diwali is a time for celebration and togetherness. So, when your relatives and in-laws descend upon your home this Diwali, take a deep breath, relax, and enjoy the ride. After all, it’s the memories we create that make Diwali truly special.

As we move into the new year, it’s important to leave behind any negative thoughts or feelings and focus on the positive. Now is the time to let go of any grudges or resentment and embrace a new beginning.

This year, like every other, was filled with both highs and lows. However, despite the challenges we faced, there was always a silver lining and that is what matters most. Even in the darkest of times, we can find hope and light.

Many of you may know, we recently experienced some difficult times that required us to take a temporary hiatus from blogging. Unfortunately, I was involved in a serious road accident and my friend faced some personal challenges that made it necessary for us to step away for a while.

During this time, we were grateful to receive such strong support and well wishes from our readers. We truly appreciate your concern and kindness, and it meant a lot to us. We are grateful to have such a supportive community behind us.

This year, we were also thrilled to publish our first book, “Unfold the Stories of Unsung Heroes.” We were overwhelmed by the amount of support and love we received, and we never could have imagined that our book would become an Amazon Best Seller in certain categories.

We are grateful to all of you who took the time to read our book and leave honest reviews. Your support means the world to us. We hope that by sharing the stories of ordinary people with extraordinary experiences, and with your incredible support, we can make a difference in the lives of those who read these unsung stories. it’s time to dust off the same old resolutions we make every year and pretend like this is the year we’ll actually stick to them. You know, the ones where we swear we’ll hit the gym every day, eat healthily, and save all our extra cash.

But seriously, let’s all take a moment to pat ourselves on the back for making it through another year. Congratulations, we’ve survived yet another 365 days of adulting! Time to celebrate with some champagne and a slice of that delicious-looking cake that’s been calling our name all night.

And who knows, maybe this will be the year we actually follow through on those resolutions. Maybe.

For me, Christmas is truly the best time of year. It’s a time to reflect on the past year and all the blessings it brought, and it’s a time to look forward to the new year with hope and excitement.

But a remarkable day came and on 15th August 1947– ‘The unforgettable day’ in Indian History when India got independence from British rule. It marks the end of the British government and the establishment of a new and independent India.

Independence day is the historic and most important day for India. It is also a national holiday for taking out time to remember our freedom fighters who contributed and sacrificed their lives for the country. Mahatma Gandhi, Subhash Chandra Bose, Bhagat Singh, Dadabhai Naroji, and Rani Lakshmi Bai are a few names of the golden names who made remarkable contributions and are the reason why we all are here celebrating freedom.

We may never know how it feels like to live in a free country if it was not for the bravery of our fathers.

But unfortunately, this day is also marked as the anniversary of the partition of two nations that is India and Pakistan. The partition that took place nearly 75 years ago still makes people remember all the innocents’ deaths and chaos.

After being ruled by Britishers, India earned freedom after a long struggle of about 190 years. But after so many ups and down today India is considered one of the potential upcoming superpowers of the world. Now people of India are spread all over the world and contributing to different sectors.

World Knows India for its diverse culture and unity. And perhaps because of this unity and patriotism India recovered quickly to post-independence so as result it become the fastest-growing economy.

India’s 75th Independence Celebration

This year we are celebrating our 75th year of Independence. People organize flag-hoisting ceremonies, parades, March pasts, fireworks, and different cultural events.

The national anthem ‘Jana Gana Mana’ and other patriotic songs will be sung by people throughout India. This day is also celebrated in schools and colleges so that children & students should be aware of the greatness of this day.

On every 15th of August, our honorable Prime Minister hoists the Indian flag on the Red Fort in Delhi and also mentions past years’ achievements and raises important issues, and calls for further developments.

What India has achieved after Independence?

Who doesn’t like talking about their country’s achievements? As this special day is approaching I would like to point few of the things that my country has achieved in a short span post-independence.

India is the world’s biggest democracy. Now India has grown rapidly in all sectors after independence in a short period. India has several significant achievements and major milestones in nearly all sectors -infrastructure, trade, transport, defense, medical, education, nuclear – power, scientific research, etc.

India is also among the fastest growing economy with a GDP of 8.7% in 2021-2022. India transformed from a country where there was a shortage of food to becoming one of the leading agricultural producers in the world.

Apart from agriculture, we have also seen growth in other sectors. The government of India focuses more on the infrastructure and on the construction of national highways to make an easy journey and trade. India is also recognized globally for its scientific research and tests.

India has created, tested, and operationalized several missile systems. Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has done commendable work in space over the past few decades and is now counted among the most successful space agencies in the world. What even makes them unique is their approach to helping other counties in launching their satellites.

India is also called the pharmacy of the world because it is the largest provider of generic drugs in the world. And the country has proved this by sending millions of free vaccines to help other countries during the COVID-19 pandemic. Indian pharmaceutical market is the world’s third-largest in terms of volume and thirteenth largest in terms of value.

India has always proved from time to time that it is always there to help its neighboring countries in difficult times, whether it’s Bangladesh in the past or currently Sri Lankan crisis.

These are some things that make me feel proud of my country. I know we’re not yet perfect, there’s so much worse too, and we have to cover a long path. Last year’s independence day I talked about a few things where we are still struggling for freedom. You can read it here –

But I also believe that our courage and dedication will make this happen soon.

Every year the festival is celebrated on the ‘Purnima‘ (full moon) Night of ‘Sawan’ (Monsoon) month i.e. August. Sisters ties a sacred band on the wrist of her brothers which is known as ‘Rakhi‘ showing love and care. In return, the brothers promised his sisters to defend and support them for the rest of their life.

This ritual is followed for thousands of years and holds an important place in the hearts of people. Every year millions of Indians & outside world (especially the Hindu community) wait for this special day.

This year Raksha Bandhan is going to celebrate on 11th August 2022. But what does where it all start? And, what does it means in today’s world? Let’s dive deep in time to know more about the origin of the festival.

A Brief History of Raksha Bandhan

According to Hindu Mythology, this festival was started by Lord Krishna during the Mahabharata period (3rd century CE).

Once Lord Krishna got wounded by his ‘Sudarshan Chakra’ (disc of auspicious vision) and his finger got a deep cut as a result of it. Princess Draupadi the daughter of the Panchal Kingdom King Dhrupad saw Lord Krishna’s wound. She came to him and tear a piece of cloth from her dress and tied it to the finger of Lord Krishna to stop the blood from sippling.

After observing the loving and caring nature of Draupadi, Lord Krishna promised to protect her from any threat during her lifetime. As a result, after some time when Kauravas tried to harm the dignity of Draupadi, she recalled Lord Krishna.

Lord Krishna stood up for Draupadi and save her dignity from Kauravas. From that day Hindus started celebrating this day as a bond between siblings.

What Does Raksha Bandhan Actually Mean in Today’s World?

As I said, Raksha Bandhan is a festival of siblings’ relationships of love & care, but if we think it is beyond this. As we know that Lord Krishna inaugurated the meaning of Raksha Bandhan (bond of protection) by fulfilling his promise to Draupadi. But Draupadi was not her real sister, instead, he helped her out of love, out of care whenever she needed it.

So, the significance of Raksha Bandhan is much bigger than the bond between brother and sister. It is not hidden where we all stand in modern times.

With all that humans achieved, we still have a long way to walk. Gender disparity and injustice are increasing instead of so much technological advancement and development. There are many countries where people are suffering from molestation, less opportunity, education, and a patriarchal society. There are still many places where women don’t have a right to get an education and raise their voices against crime.

Therefore, we believe safety and love shouldn’t be restricted to some groups of people, instead everyone should enjoy their equal rights and freedom. Freedom where they can breathe free, live free, and speak freely. And, that’s only possible if we all learn to stand for each other.

The significance of Raksha Bandhan shouldn’t be limited to relationships between brother and sister. Instead, we should celebrate this festival with everyone whom we loved and care about. We should always try to support and uplift everyone who feels down and need a bit of help whether it’s your brother, mother, sister, spouse, stranger, friends, or anyone.

Because everyone deserves love, care, and affection and I hope lord Krishna also wants us to do the same.

The day is also known as Saint Valentine’s day or the feast of Saint Valentine. On this day lovers from all over the world express their gratitude, love, affections, greetings to their soulmates and to their loved ones.

As it is a festival of romantic unending love, many people give cards, letters, flowers, or presents to their spouse, partner, or to the people they love the most. The common symbol of Valentine’s Day is Red Roses, Hearts, hangouts, and Cupid.

But not all couples go outside to celebrate love, they celebrate it by decorating their own house, making delicious food, arranging candlelight dinner, and a sweet romantic dance at the end.

But, do you know the story behind Valentine’s Day? If not, then I must say It’s a really beautiful but also a heartbreaking story.

Origin Of Valentine’s Day And The Story of St. Valentine

Valentine’s Day is named after Saint Valentine, a catholic priest. He lived in Rome in the 3rd century. There are many stories about Saint Valentine over the internet but the one I have chosen and is promising is very painful but about precious love.

There was once an Emperor Claudius II, known for his cruelty and strict laws. He made a law that none of the youngsters in Rome will get married. He believes that a single man can better serve the nation instead of those with families and wives.

Therefore, He restricted love in Rome. He wanted to make a young-blood army, so he converted every youngster into a soldier. But St. Valentine, a holy priest believes in love. He started a campaign from village to village and explained the importance of love.

Saint Valentine did the marriage of many couples in the town, which Claudius didn’t like. He felt it as an insult to himself so he put the Saint behind prison and ordered a death sentence. While imprisoned, Valentine cared for his fellow prisoners and the blind daughter of the jailer.

It is said that the saint was in love with the daughter of the jailer. It is also allegedly said that the saint wrote a letter before his death signed as “from your valentine” and this expression is still used today.

Although there is no exact story of what exactly happened to St. Valentine, all his stories are sympathetic, heroic, and most importantly “romantic“.

There are no limits to love. Quoted from a famous line- How far can you go for love? As much you will give someone, the higher you will get it in return. It is not always necessary that you have to be in a couple to celebrate love. It can be celebrated with anyone to whom you care the most and love with all your heart. Whether it’s your friends, family, or anyone who brings joy into your life.

Who Can Be Your Valentine?

• Spouse/Partner:- February is the month of romance, it becomes more romantic when you are with your love. But if he/she is far away from you then don’t be regretful. Just feel the love and make your bond stronger. Love will travel as far as you let it.
• Family:- It is not necessary to always have a partner to celebrate the festival of love. We can even celebrate it with our close ones. Our parents, siblings, elders, or the people in your life who love and care for you, just wish them by giving promise of never let them down.
• Pets:- Oh! yes, definitely. After our parents, the second one to whom we are so close is our pets, don’t know about you but I’m very much. I think it’s an awesome Idea to celebrate the unconditional love of our pets. This Valentine’s Day I’m going to celebrate it with my pet dog, my beloved ‘Rockey‘. • Yourself:- Of course, you can be your valentine. You don’t have to be part of a couple to be happy. Enjoy the evening with yourself. Just relax, give yourself some time, take a glass of wine in hand, play soulful music and forget all the worries for a while. First, make yourself happy instead of expecting someone to. (This is what I’ve learned from my favorite TV show- Mr. Bean)
