Babar Ali rushed home too – but only so he could start teaching his own class. With no official title, no salary, and no proper classroom, he became the youngest headmaster in the world.

His first “school” was a patch of ground under the open sky, his first “students” were kids who had never seen the inside of a classroom, and his mission was simple: give them the education they deserved, even if he had to do it alone.

A Classroom Born from Compassion

In the small village of Murshidabad, West Bengal, life moved at an unhurried pace. But for many children, education was not part of that life at all. Some worked in fields, some carried water for their families, and others cared for younger siblings. School was a dream they couldn’t afford.

Babar noticed this every day on his way to and from school. And one day, he decided that waiting for someone else to change things wasn’t an option.

So, he turned his own backyard into a makeshift classroom, gathering a few neighbourhood children and teaching them whatever he had learned that day.

What began as an informal gathering soon became something bigger. Word spread through the village that a boy was teaching for free, and more children began showing up.

Over time, with help from well-wishers and donations, the backyard transformed into Anand Shiksha Niketan (“Home of Joyful Learning”). The “school” welcomed children who had never held a pencil before, offering them not just literacy but hope.

Babar continued his own education in the mornings and returned in the afternoons to teach. His students came barefoot, with worn-out books, but they brought with them an unshakable eagerness to learn.

Babar’s goal was simple: to break the cycle of poverty through education. He knew that if these children didn’t get the chance to learn, their futures would be locked in the same struggles their families faced.

He didn’t wait for government programs or NGOs to take the lead. Instead, he proved that you’re never too young to make a difference — you just have to start.

As word of his work spread, Babar gained recognition from across India and beyond. He received awards, media coverage, and invitations to speak about his journey. But fame never distracted him from the chalkboard in his small school, his mission remained the same.

This is Just the Beginning…

Babar Ali’s journey is about more than teaching – it’s about having the courage to start something good, no matter how small.

This blog is just a sneak peek. In Unfold the Stories of Unsung Heroes – Part 3, you’ll find the full story of Babar Ali — the challenges he faced, the moments that shaped him, and the incredible ripple effect of his work. Plus, you’ll meet nine other amazing people from around the world who are quietly making our world better.

We talked about what inspired the series, how Deepak and I find these hidden heroes from across the globe, and what it takes to bring their stories to life in a way that feels deeply human and real. And yes, I even shared a favourite hero from this series, though that was no easy pick.

It’s wild to think this all started as a small storytelling effort on our Aspiring Blog platform, and today we’ve got three books out in the world. And now sharing the “why” behind this project, got me thinking on just how meaningful this journey has been.

And to be very honest, being my first podcast ever, I might’ve fumbled a little here and there, but it was so fun overall, and the good thing is I’m officially not camera-shy anymore.

Because I’ll be honest, some real-life stories are more powerful, emotional, and twisty than anything Hollywood or Bollywood or any other ‘wood’ out there could script. These are the kinds of stories that stay with you. That whisper at your heart. That makes you cry, laugh, and fist-pump all at once.

And so today, I’m making a pitch, not to studios (okay, maybe a little), but to you, readers. Here are 5 unsung heroes from our books who I think absolutely deserve their own movie or Netflix docuseries. These aren’t just stories worth telling; they’re stories that could move millions.

1. Claire Wineland – The Girl Who Breathed Life into Life

From Book I

Claire Wineland had cystic fibrosis, a life-threatening illness, but that didn’t stop her from becoming a public speaker, YouTube star, activist, and soul-whisperer. She didn’t just live with illness, she thrived with it, laughing in its face and making us all rethink what it means to be “alive.”

Suggested Title: Breathe Anyway

Genre: Heartfelt dramedy meets TED Talk

Starring: Maybe Florence Pugh, because she’s got the depth, the spark, and that raw emotional power Claire carried so beautifully.

2. Dian Fossey – The Woman Who Spoke Gorilla

From Book III

She wasn’t just a scientist. She was a protector, a disruptor, and a woman willing to take on poachers, patriarchy, and political pressure, all to save her beloved mountain gorillas. Her story isn’t just about wildlife, it’s about wild willpower.

Suggested Title: Dian

Genre: Psychological Thriller and Eco-Activist Drama

Starring: I’d suggest Charlize Theron to star. She’s strong, intense, and totally able to handle both wrestling with gorilla poachers and portraying complex emotions.

3. Babar Ali – The Boy Who Built a School

From Book III

At just 9 years old, Babar started teaching kids who couldn’t afford school in his backyard. By 16, he was the youngest headmaster in the world. Imagine that. A kid, turning chalk and kindness into change.

Suggested Title: The Backyard Blackboard

Genre: Uplifting indie drama with schoolyard heart

Starring: Suraj Sharma (from Life of Pi) could portray the older Babar looking back, maybe even directing it himself?

4. James Harrison – The Man Who Saved 2.5 Million Babies

From Book II

James donated blood almost 1,200 times over 60 years. But not just any blood, his rare plasma helped save over 2 million babies from a deadly disease. Just imagine quietly saving lives every week for decades. Now imagine never asking for anything in return.

Working Title: The Man Who Saved Millions

Genre: Heartwarming Australian drama with dry humor

Starring: This one’s interesting, and I firmly believe that Bryan Cranston would be a perfect fit for this role because he can mix ordinary guy charm with quiet heroism so perfectly.

5. Mary Ann Bevan – The Woman Who Reclaimed Her Name

From Book I

After developing acromegaly, Mary Ann was cruelly labelled “The Ugliest Woman in the World.” But she owned her story. She entered a contest, performed in sideshows, not to be mocked, but to support her children and reclaim dignity in the most unusual way. Her story is a strength in disguise.

Working Title: Bevan

Genre: Period drama with soul and sass

Starring: For this, I would suggest Olivia Colman, for her sheer ability to break and heal you with just a glance. I’ve seen her work in ‘The Favourite’ and ‘Wicked Little Letters’.

We might not be filmmakers (yet ), but telling these stories felt like making emotional movies on paper. And maybe someday, one of these stories will hit the screen. Until then, you can read them in our books.

Let us know — which one would you want to see as a movie if you’ve read our books?

And, if you’re a director reading this… call us.

Unfold the Stories of Unsung Heroes – Part 3 is Now LIVE!

This book is more than just stories. It’s about people who dared to stand up, step forward, and do something remarkable, often with no expectation of recognition.

A diplomat who risked his career to save thousands from the Holocaust.
A woman whose coding genius helped Apollo 11 land on the moon.
A girl who fell from the sky and walked out of the jungle alive.
A doctor who restored sight to millions with one small surgery.
A man who spends his life patrolling a bridge, pulling people back from the edge.

And so many more.

This time, we also wanted to do things right. We brought in an amazing editor to refine the book and worked with the designers to design a cover that truly reflects the spirit of these heroes. (And trust me, the cover is just as special as the stories inside)

To celebrate this moment, we’ve put together a special video to show some of the incredible individuals featured in Part 3. It’s a glimpse into the heart of this book.

So, it’s finally here, and I can’t wait for you to read it. If you’ve followed this journey, you know how much heart and soul went into this book. And if you haven’t read the first two books in the series yet, we insist you check them out too.

The post It’s Finally Here! Our New Book is Out Now appeared first on Aspiring Blog.

When I first started Aspiring Blog with my college friend Deepak, it was simply a platform to share stories and perspectives about various aspects of life. But one particular category, Unsung Heroes, struck a chord with all of you. What began as just another section on our platform quickly evolved into something far more impactful.

You welcomed these stories with open hearts, inspiring us to take it further and create something truly special. And so, the Unsung Heroes category transformed into a dedicated book series.

Now, we are just weeks away from launching the next book, Part III of our Unfold the Stories of Unsung Heroes series. And this time, we’ve gone above and beyond to ensure it’s everything you’ve been waiting for. Because your love and support deserve nothing less.

We heard you. We felt your enthusiasm. And we knew we had to raise the bar. So, for this book, we brought in a professional editor to make sure each story shines with the clarity and emotion it deserves. We also worked closely with a brilliant graphic designer to transform our vision into something visually stunning.

But most importantly, our mission remains unchanged: To honor those who dared to make a difference. To celebrate those who chose compassion over comfort, bravery over silence, and kindness over indifference. To inspire the world.

Also, if you haven’t read our previous two books, I must insist you do so. We are incredibly proud to share that those books even made it to the Amazon Best Seller list multiple times in certain book categories.

Every step of this journey has been guided by our belief in these incredible individuals. And now, we feel more determined than ever to do justice to their legacy. These books are not just a collection of stories, it’s a tribute to the strength of the human spirit.

We couldn’t have reached this point without you. Your heartfelt messages and your shared passion for these unsung heroes have been our greatest motivation. You’ve made us feel that what we are doing matters. And for that, we are eternally grateful.

So, thank you for being our greatest support. Thank you for believing in this mission.

We can’t wait to share this new chapter with you, and we’re confident it will leave a lasting impact.

A modest man in rural China, armed with little more than sheer willpower and a burning sense of justice, takes on a chemical giant. It’s not the plot of a movie—it’s the real-life journey of Wang Enlin. And let me tell you, his story will not only inspire you but make you believe in the power of one determined individual.

A Quiet Life, Disrupted

Wang Enlin lived a simple life in Yushutun village, nestled in China’s Heilongjiang Province. Like his neighbors, he depended on the land for his livelihood. But in 2001, his life turned upside down when Qihua Group, a state-owned chemical company, began dumping toxic wastewater onto the farmlands of his village.

The once-fertile soil that fed families and sustained their livelihoods was now a contaminated wasteland. Crops withered, and livelihoods were destroyed. Worse, no one seemed to care. Local authorities turned a blind eye, and the villagers, including Wang, were left helpless—or so it seemed.

An Unlikely Lawyer

Now, Wang could have accepted his fate. After all, what chance did a farmer with only three years of formal schooling stand against a wealthy, powerful corporation? But Wang wasn’t one to back down.

Determined to hold Qihua accountable, he decided to study law. Without money for legal education, Wang spent his evenings copying legal textbooks by hand in a local bookstore. The owner of the bookstore, impressed by his dedication, let him pay with bags of corn instead of money.

Over six years, Wang transformed himself into a self-taught legal expert. He studied environmental laws and regulations. His journey wasn’t easy, imagine trying to understand complex legal jargon with barely any formal education.

The Sweet Taste of Justice

With his newfound legal skills, Wang partnered with the Centre for Legal Assistance to Pollution Victims in 2007 and filed a lawsuit against Qihua Group. It was a David-versus-Goliath fight that dragged on for years.

In 2015, Wang and 55 fellow villagers achieved a historic victory when the court ruled in their favor, ordering Qihua Group to pay 820,000 yuan in compensation for the environmental damage caused. While the battle isn’t entirely over, the company continues to appeal the decision.

Why Wang Matters

Wang’s story isn’t just about a farmer fighting a chemical company; it’s about the spirit of a man who refused to accept injustice. It’s about the power of knowledge, the strength of community, and the belief that even the most ordinary individuals can achieve extraordinary things.

What makes Wang Enlin a hero isn’t just his victory—it’s his willingness to stand up for what’s right, even when the odds were stacked impossibly high.

Stories That Deserve to Be Told

And this is just a glimpse of Wang Enlin’s life. His journey is one of the many untold stories of unsung heroes that inspire us to rethink the power of determination and the courage to make a difference.

If you found Wang Enlin’s story moving, you’re in for a treat. In our book, Unfold the Stories of Unsung Heroes Part I & II, discover more about Wang’s life and bring to light many more incredible tales of everyday people who have done the extraordinary.

These stories are not just about celebrating heroes but about discovering the hero within us.

In the interview, we had a chat about why we felt compelled to write about ordinary people making extraordinary impacts in their communities and about how we got this idea from a blog category to a book series. We also talked about why these books should be on your to-be-read list.

It’s all about recognizing those everyday heroes whose stories often fly under the radar but have the power to touch our hearts.

We’re incredibly excited about the positive feedback we’ve received for our first two books, and we can’t wait to share more inspiring stories with you all.

I wholeheartedly encourage you to hop over to Colleen’s website to read the full interview. It’s a great opportunity to learn more about our journey and the amazing unsung heroes featured in our book. Let’s spread the word and celebrate those making a difference.

Thank you for your support, and I hope you enjoy the interview as much as we did!

Who is Katie Stagliano?

Katie was your average kid living in Summerville, South Carolina. That is, until one day, a small school gardening project set her on a path that would change thousands of lives. At the age of nine, she brought home a cabbage seedling as part of a school gardening project. Little did she know, this small plant was about to grow into something much bigger—not just in size but in impact.

“Every single day after school, I would diligently tend to my seedling, watering and weeding around it with great care,” Stagliano recalls. “I was constantly worried about the deer getting to it, so I took matters into my own hands and constructed a protective cage using wooden posts and chicken wire.”

The Cabbage That Started It All

When Katie took her cabbage seedling home, she planted it and gave it all the care in the world. As time passed, it kept growing… and growing… and growing! By the time it was fully grown, it weighed almost 40 pounds. Most kids might have marveled at their giant veggie and called it a day, but not Katie. She decided to donate the cabbage to a local soup kitchen, where it ended up feeding 275 people.

Just think about that for a second—275 people fed from one cabbage.

That moment was like a spark for Katie. She realized that if one cabbage could do that much good, what could a whole garden do?

And Then Came Katie’s Krops

That’s when Katie’s Krops was born—a nonprofit with a mission to encourage other kids to grow vegetable gardens and donate the harvest to feed people in need. She wanted kids across the U.S. to grow their own vegetable gardens and donate the harvests to help fight hunger. She started with her own backyard garden and then expanded the idea into a nationwide initiative. Today, there are Katie’s Krops gardens across the country, all run by kids who are planting seeds and changing lives.

It Wasn’t Always Easy

Like any great story, Katie’s journey wasn’t without its challenges. As a young girl with a big dream, she had to learn how to manage the logistics of running a nonprofit, rally volunteers, and keep the gardens growing (literally and figuratively).

There were crops that didn’t survive, funding issues, and, of course, the learning curve of growing a movement from the ground up (literally). But if there’s one thing Katie has shown the world, it’s that she doesn’t give up.

Countless people have been fed through these gardens, and even more young people have been inspired to get involved in their own communities.

The Impact of Katie’s Krops

Fast forward to today, and Katie’s efforts have been nothing short of amazing. Since 2009, Katie’s Krops has grown and distributed over 500,000 pounds of fresh produce to individuals in need across the nation. In October 2022, the organization marked 12 years of Katie’s Krops Dinners, a commendable feat of providing over 50,000 meals to neighbors in need.

Want to Know the Full Story?

Katie’s journey is just one of many stories about incredible young heroes quietly making a huge impact. If you’re curious to hear more about Katie’s experiences and the people who supported her along the way, then you’re in for a treat. We’ve captured her story—along with many others—in our book Unfold the Stories of Unsung Heroes. If you love feel-good stories about people making a difference, grab your copy today.

Before we tell you about her incredible story, you should know what exactly FGM is. Female Genital Mutilation or FGM refers to the practice of removing or injuring a girl’s external genitalia. It’s often seen as a religious or cultural ritual, but it has devastating physical and emotional consequences. We’re talking about severe pain, infections, and even death. It takes away a girl’s right to a healthy and happy life.

Despite efforts to stop it, FGM is sadly still practised in many parts of Africa and the Middle East. There are a lot of reasons behind this, like some believing it’s necessary for girls to become women, or that it controls their sexuality. But the truth is, it hurts girls and takes away their bodily autonomy.

It’s a complex issue with deep roots, some dating back centuries. Lack of education and misinformation keep this harmful practice alive.

Incredible Story of Domtila Chesang

Domtila’s story is what makes her a true hero. She grew up in West Pokot County, Kenya, where FGM was a common practice. Life there revolved around community and tradition. But even as a child, Domtila felt a spark of something different. When she was just 13, she witnessed her cousin being subjected to FGM. The pain and fear she saw ignited a fire in her – she knew she couldn’t let this happen to other girls.

Domtila didn’t wait around. She started speaking out against Female Genital Mutilation, even at a young age. Imagine a teenager taking a stand against a deeply ingrained tradition. Talk about bravery! She talked to friends, family, and anyone who would listen. She even used radio programs, a powerful tool in Kenyan communities, to spread awareness about the dangers of FGM.

The I_Rep Foundation

Domtila soon realized that change needed to happen at the community level. So, she founded the I_Rep Foundation. This amazing organization works to educate people about the harms of FGM and empower girls to make their own choices about their bodies. They even provide scholarships to keep girls in school, which is another powerful tool against harmful practices.

She even started working closely with local leaders, elders, and parents to challenge the cultural norms that keep FGM alive.

Standing up to tradition isn’t easy. Domtila faced criticism and even threats from those who believed FGM was necessary. There were times when her activism brought tension within her own community. But Domtila persevered. She knew that the future of girls in her community depended on her courage.

For many years, Despite her remarkable accomplishments and unrelenting efforts toward ending this harmful cultural practice, Chesang’s name remains largely unfamiliar outside of her local community. It was only after some local media outlets published her story, that she got some attention from international media. She has received numerous awards and recognition, including the prestigious Mandela Washington Fellowship.

There’s More to Her Story!

This is just a glimpse into Domtila Chesang’s incredible story. There are so many other interesting details, challenges she faced, and victories she celebrated. Perhaps she surprised herself with her own strength, or maybe there were moments of doubt. Did she ever feel scared? How did her community react?

We don’t want you to keep guessing about her incredible life and the many other unsung heroes out there. From the bottom of our hearts, we invite you to read our book series, Unfold the Stories of Unsung Heroes. Parts 1 and 2 are already available on Amazon, filled with inspiring stories like Domtila’s.

We guarantee you’ll be cheering for these heroes long after you turn the last page. These heroes will stay with you forever.
