Why Does Every Day Feel The Same Sometimes?

Have you ever been in a situation continually where you feel like that you are living the same day over & over again? Where it has a thought like you got stuck on a single day while your known ones are getting forward on time. I’ve been into such situations so many times and believe plenty of you too. Especially from the past 1 year after the pandemic hit us this way that we got locked up in the houses and have nothing to do. Although the feeling of stuck in an endless time loop is much prior to the pandemic.

Whether you are a job person, student, housewife, and retired, the feeling of stuck in a time is common.

So, why does every day feel the same sometimes? There must be a reason, a scientific and a psychological explanation that can expound the inducement of our notion of being living our boring routine nature every day.

If you aren’t familiar with this feeling, let me tell you that the person with such a sense develops a sense of routine work as the only work to do in their life. All the planning, adventures, and expectations they have with their human life seem to go down the drain. It’s the time when you feel empty space inside you. The feeling of having no time but have enough time.

Imagine a situation where a life cycle instead of going on a straight line is circling around on a loop. Now the thing is that you are living the same day time and time again, with literally doing the same activities from the start of the day. It’s the Deja vu of Deja vu.

Seems, time just broken for you or perhaps stop working anymore. Every time you cross the day, it comes around again the same way with all the default activities. Think of an episode that you watch every time where you can accurately predict what’s gonna happen next?

What Can Be Reason Behind The feeling Of Your Groundhog Day?

On average, we sleep 8 hours a day which I think you must be taking. Now the remaining 16 hours is what we have left for all the activities and to explore life.

From lifting your head off the pillow and putting it back down and the time section i.e., 16 hours in between them is for all the regular stuff you do is what the normal life is, which is definitely kinda boring because it’s come over & over again.

There are certain things that we don’t like doing but of course, have to do in those 16 hours which is why we fantasize about future expectations.

We all tend to view our lives in a sort of narrative structure that we’ve been told and witnessed about the human life cycle. That we are born, there comes a childhood and then education, graduation, job, money, experience, adventure and then marriage and this goes on and on. But you should know that these are life events and the highlights that you kept to tell others about your life.

If you come to the reality you find that what actually life feels like on a day-to-day basis is quite different and considered absolutely normal. Yes, life, in general, is pretty much normal. Your day-to-day experience is the dominant part of anyone’s life and is what you spend most of your life.

Although I agree that some people spent adventurous, exciting life more often but they also a part of the normal life, they also do their day-to-day activities every single day that we all do more often.

Our amazing days become our expectations and our normal days become boring just because our daily routine remains uninterrupted for several weeks and months. This is may also the reason that why does every day feel the same.

It may also be the social media, where everyone is doing fun things that you are missing in your life, that makes you even more stressful.

What You Can Do To Overcome This Feeling?

The good thing is you are not alone. You can see enough people complaining about this feeling on the internet. You can even ask your friend the same question and there is a strong possibility he will ask you the same question.

Now, this can sound super depressing or super inspiring on how you look at it.

Depending on the person’s way of thinking, some take their life complicated while some also believe that life is simple but we intend to make it complicated.

Here are few things that you can do to make your day exciting:-

  1. First and foremost stop believing that you are alone. And if you still think that you’re alone then still there is nothing to worry about. Because Being alone doesn’t always mean only sadness or hatred. There is a difference between Being Alone and Being lonely.
  2. Every morning think of how can you make your day exciting, even if you have boring tasks lined up. Think of that one particular activity that you can do easily to lift up your mood. Doesn’t matter how small or big it is. It can be your favorite drink, song, or anything that even maybe a weird thing. Just do it to get that excitement after a long boring usual day.
  3. Call your friend and loved ones tell them how you feel right nowadays. Listen to them.
  4. Stop asking yourself, ‘Is my whole life going to be the same?’ No, it’s not because nothing stays the same ever.
  5. Keep doing experiments with your habits. Get out of your comfort zone. Do regular activities that bring you joy.
  6. Do something new that you’ve been planning for so long. At least start with small, start somewhere.
  7. Listen to your favorite songs, podcasts, or read new books.
  8. Make good use of social media. Don’t fall for the highlights and fake images that celebrities put on their social walls. Instead, join some online community or group where you feel excited and interested.
  9. Develop new skills. Learn something new maybe writing a blog or creating a video. Writing perfectly synchronizes your heart and mind. Writing is such a creative outlet to broaden your senses. Related Post- Why You Should Write?
  10. Do some research about any topic you feel interested in and that keeps your mind away from your negative notions.
  11. If you have certain talents, don’t let them get wasted. Make it let the right exposure they need.
  12. And of course, try to remain fit. Practice Yoga and meditation every single day. It is the one thing that you never get bored of and get loads of benefits.

We all experience our own version of Groundhog Day, no one knows when we wake up to a new beginning. The episode will definitely change. You just have to keep holding on.

If you think of this is as a positive you’ll get to know that sometimes you have to get stuck or stop, to find something worth chasing.

So, what is your thought about this weird feeling of boredom? How’s your life going? Let us know in the comment section. Consider this as one more activity that can make your day exciting and interesting.

    • No worries. In fact, that's really good if you haven't experienced this feeling.

      Thank you Joanna

  • I found this to be an interesting and informative article. While I do understand the deeper implications my own personal life as a writer and a passionate creative Christian seems to be providing me with the fuel (particularly now I am a senior citizen and wondering if I'll live long enough to finish} my writing goals. It's about PASSION. Even lock down cannot stifle if Passion fuels the reason why you get up in the morning. We need to have passionate dreams and equally passionate GOALS to propel us ever forward..........

    • Absolutely true Faye. The passion to keep doing something can never be ceased even if the days aren't supportive to you. I'm inspired and admire your love of writing. You are right about passionate dreams and goals.
Have a great day and week ahead.

  • I agree and we do have to get stuck to find a new sense of being. It isn't pleasant but a fact of life. I love the photo of Bernie Sanders with his gloves! Have a great day.

    • Yes, it isn't pleasant but completely normal. But surely there are things to do when you feel stuck, things which can bring you a better tomorrow.

Thank you so much for giving your time. Have a great week.

  • Nice and interesting blog post. Enjoyed reading from start till end and especially liked the solutions provided to overcome the Groundhog day.
Pandemic did brought a change in daily routine and started a new episode, but to watch it daily till pandemic ends 😁
We need to something exciting. Everyday is a new beginning and housed with new challenges. We should enjoy and bring something exciting and fun from these challenges.
Loved the lines "There is a difference between Being alone and being lonely". Many people misjudge these terms. Thanks for sharing positive thoughts!

    • Thank you, Ashish.
During this time I've got an opportunity to explore more of me and to work on my passion for writing. It may be the reason that even after all the boring stuff I do on a regular basis doesn't negatively impact my brain much, just because I put my focus on writing more which excites me after the end of the day.
And of course, Being alone and Being Lonely are different things. Here's the post I've written before about this- https://theblogera.com/are-you-alone/

      Have a great day.

      • My pleasure ❤️
That's really great to know. Writing is really a passion; as you write more, you enjoy it thoroughly.
Will surely visit and read. Thanks for sharing! 🙂🙂

  • It feels like we have been stuck in a continuous Ground Hog day for the last year, because we were. I is finally over, maybe, probably. Many of us are still stuck in the vision are having a problem getting out!

    • It's been really tough for previous 1 year. Getting locked up in the house. It really feels the same every day. But you must find out the activity or interest that makes your day exciting. That particular activity that you can do by yourself at home. Doesn't matter how small or big it is, anything that brings you joy and puts a smile on your face.

  • Great and useful post!!
I really needed it today, because I was thinking the same yesterday night like "will my boring life remain the same until the end?" and I felt so depressed. This post gave me some hope and I'm glad that I'm not alone 😊

    • No No you are definitely not alone. Ask your friend the same question, he must also be thinking this way. So, don't worry it just a normal day, exciting things will surely come into your life sooner or later.

  • really the life these days is very monotonous...but afterall...this is also an old new!!

  • Thank you, writers like nothing better than solitude. I write, read and learn every day about India, I just wish I could have more time. I have not be bored, ever!

    Thank you for your understanding.

    Joanna

    • That's so nice of you Joanna.
I know how time doesn't seem enough when you are really passionate about something. But no doubt you are extra ordinary at your work as a writer.

  • This pandemic is going on and on!!! And everyday I feel like a 'hamster in wheel', I get tired without even doing anything and that's weird but it is what it is.... Thanks for this post as it is very uplifting and much needed ❤❤❤

    • Thank you, Shivani.
We all are going through this, as it's the first time it happened. You are not alone in this. But I hope you find your way to make your life more exciting.

  • Thank you for this helpful blog post. I think that this is something that a lot of people need to hear, especially after the lockdown. I know I'll definitely be trying those tips out the next time that I feel low, it seems like really good advice. My mother would often encourage me to think about one thing at the start of everyday that I was looking forward to later in that day.

    • Your mother is right. Think of that one particular activity that you can do during those 16 hours to uplift your mood. I know, perhaps days aren't supportive for now, but I'm sure it soon will.
I'm glad you find this blog helpful. Thank you so much.
      Have a great day.

  • Most of us live "ordinary" lives. The media would suggest these are pointless, that only mountaintop experiences, fame, and the acquisition of great wealth matter. Each day though affords us opportunities to reach out to others w/ love and kindness. God sees our efforts to support our families; to raise healthy children, and teach them right from wrong. Those are the things that matter in His eyes.

    • Encouraging words Anna.
You are so right about the ordinary lives that what majority of us live as human beings, but each day for us is an opportunity to do something good for us and others as well.
      Have a great day

  • Great advice. Certainly feels like Groundhog Day a lot during this pandemic. I think if you can remain present, really in the moment, you can see that everything is always new and interesting. Often it’s simply the lens through which we look. Bringing a beginners mind to each day - a willingness to experiment as you say. In order to remain curious. Great joy can be found in the littlest things. Great post Ritish. 🙏

    • Love the line "often it's simply the lens through which we look",
There is no doubt, joy can be found even in the smallest things if one is willing to look for it.

Thankyou for sharing your words here.

  • Right time right post ! There's difference between being alone and being lonely 👌. Thank you for this post!

  • I think we've all felt this way at times, particularly during the Lockdown. Interesting and informative post :)

    • Glad you find this interesting.
You are true, lockdown pushed all of us to think that way.

      • He would appreciate your concern, if his smart little self knew. Yes, daily, Lil' Murph, at some point, throws a fit, wanting out of his cage, so he gets freedom in the house (w/ his bell on so I know where he is at all times). He gets carried as I walk his dog brother. When I can arrange it, we also sit in the sun nearly every day, weather permitting, but, we both watch for Hawks or snakes in tall grass, so he cannot wander without my being next to him every second.
Btw, I think the Unsung Heroes segment is yet another good addition to what you're all doing over there.

        • It's so good to see him enjoying a company with you. Love the bonding between you. I can assure he intentionally uses those bells to call you :-)

And thankyou for your encouraging words at the last.

  • I like your topic selection Ritish? Everyday feels the same, this feeling stucked in my mind few days ago. Luckily, I came back to my normal life by allowing my thoughts to flow, doing physical actions which I needed. “ Sometimes, life just need flow.”

  • So true, the lockdown really stressed us. However, I do agree with you that trying to do something else other than your daily routine will definitely makes your life more exciting. You have the power to inculcate into our minds the things we need to do and avoid some irrational rants. I am inspired to do something new each day. Thank you for sharing your wise words!

    • Not every door closed in this lockdown.
You can still make the best out of your life. And for the daily routine, all I can say is ‘same pinch’. Can I do that?

      Thankyou for visiting.

  • Hi Your blog posts are really refreshing and I really enjoyed reading them. Hope to read more blog posts from you.
    Happy Blogging :)

  • I find daily habits quite comforting. I also go lots of outings and holiday when I can. Today there is a snowstorm outside and it will be like this for several days. I'm feeling so happy that this is the first year that I don't have to go out and work no matter what. I agree that the thing to do is to put some fun or relaxing activities into your day eg a half hour just for you.

    • Yeah! I agree, daily habits are in our comfort zone. But often these perpetual habits can be annoying after a certain time.
Good to hear you go outings and it makes you feel happy.
I myself love to take off for my Groundhog day to rebuilt the same energy.

      Thanks for your comment.
