5 Things To Describe That We Are Still Struggling For Freedom

Independent or not having to depend on anyone for anything else. It is an act of being strong and able to resist alone. When we talk about independence & freedom we entail a country, Individual, any living things. Everyone has the liberty to act, survive, asserting themselves.

With the same motive, India Struggles 200 years to get freedom from Britishers. After a long struggle on 15 August 1947, we got the right to make our laws and form a government for a sovereign state. This year 15th August 2021 we Celebrated our 75th Independence Day.

75 years is a long period to shape a country. India has shown tremendous growth over the decades of continuous advancement, education, infrastructure, basic rights, sanitation, health that makes Indians proud. There is no doubt that coming out of colonization and show this much growth wasn’t easy as it seems.

However, being an Indian I would like to say that there are certain things to point out that must have been addressed much earlier but still, it isn’t. It’s a time to think about where we stand in today’s world. What is the weakness which is still holding India undernourished, poor, and lack in advancements?

When the British East India Company left India we had around 1% of GDP. Afterward, a partition made India more unstable and that was a tough time for the new government and citizens of the country to again stand for their well-being. However, Some leaders sacrifice themselves to rebuilt India, and they attained it also.

Even after Independence, certain things remained the same that in my opinion making the unpleasant image of India.

I agree, no country is perfect. Everyone has their own set of problems. But these are the basic things that should be addressed in an Independent state to ensure freedom and equality for the citizen.

How India Is Independent but still lacking Freedom?

In a country with a billion population, children are selling the flag on the streets for food. Freedom of expression is still inadequate, sanitation and basic amenities are not in full access. Here I try to mention some points that how India is independent but still lacking freedom.

1. Challenges Of Women’s Safety

After many years of Independence women still feel unsafe to walk alone in Indian Streets at night especially in rural and idle places. Women are still judged by their clothing. India has improved much in providing women with constitutional rights and in women empowerment. Women can work now as equal to men, can get an education but still, she has to ask for her basic rights.

For instance, in some rural areas, women are not asked before marriage, they are bound to marry a random guy which is mostly double the age of her. She taught from the beginning that she is the property of someone else and must be loyal to her. That’s the reason, Indian women suffer most from Marital rapes because there is no such law made to protect them after marriage.

Furthermore, child marriage is still in practice in some parts of India like rural dominated places of Bihar, Rajasthan, Haryana & Uttar Prades. These are some states where stats are very poor and concerning. Her freedom is snatched at the age of 21. She is bound to do household things, baby feeding, and even after long 75 years of Independence, things are the same. Freedom is in shortfall.

2. The Struggle For Getting Justice

India is a country where crime gives you the ticket for Parliament, maximum of our lawmakers are having a criminal record. Here criminals can effortlessly move on the streets because of the slow judicial system. It took too many years to hang a rapist in India. A system is so slow that around 43.90 million cases are pending in India.

As it is said, justice delayed is justice denied. You heard it we practice it.

The reason for the slow system is the lack of Judges and infrastructure. According to the Law ministry data, India has 19 judges per 10 lakh people on an average basis. One judge is charged with a lot of responsibilities for solving a case. To get Justice is so slow in India that even God has to wait decades for fair judgment. Read for more information:- India has 19 judges for 10 lakh people.

Despite many loopholes, the faith in the judicial system is still not weakened. People often urge their rivals to see him in court for small arguments because they even now believe that the court will provide them fair jurisdiction.

3. The Curse Of Nepotism

Alright, let me speak honestly- Nepotism is not a curse it’s a common thing and a human nature by which parents are helping their children to grow because of their privilege. However, it becomes a trap for others who are deserving more but due to incumbency, they lacked in their rights.

From the film industry to politics to sports everyone is backing nepotism, a true talent never gets the opportunity to grow. It’s a universal truth that a son of the leader will become leader, a son of an actor will become an actor, a son of a sportsperson will become a sportsman irrespective of if they are talented and qualified or not.

4. Freedom From Dirty Politics

Politicians are the lawmakers of the country. They laid the foundation for the development of the state. It’s in the nature of the politicians to do politics but what if it turns out to be a dirty one?  Since 1947 many ministers took charge of the development of the country but one thing is common that they failed to reduce poverty and corruption.

It’s an Irony that before winning an election the politicians are with bare hands but after the victory, their assets made twice as much as was before, But How? This is because of corruption and fraudulent activities.

Also, many politicians are running the state with having a criminal background and it’s sarcasm that they pledge to solve the crime from the nation. Politics in India is controlled by a handful of people despite having huge populations and an abundance of political parties. They control the entirety of how the system works.

Often these games of politics cause trouble for the section of the society and seize their freedom to a certain level only.

5. Freedom From Racism

Racism is a curse

India is a country that has the perfect mixture of cultures, rituals, languages, religions. Racism is started in India when Mahatma Gandhi was pushed through a train because of his dark complexion. However, racism is not limited to color only it has spread all the way from mocking others for the language they speak to the outfit they wear.

As I said India has a variety of cultures but the truth is somewhat problematic too. In India racism starts in big cities where immigrants come for work.

People’s appearance, language, rituals become a matter of shame by a few creatures. Even after a long period of Independence people are spreading hate regarding casteism, religion, gender, and appearances. It has become a curse for some people because they couldn’t tolerate the hate and unfortunately end their life.

When India Will Truly Achieve The Freedom?

Mahatma Gandhi once said, “India will be truly Independent when the women can walk safely at the midnight”

India will be independent when children selling flags on the streets will have books and a good education. Girls who forcefully married at the age of learning will have freedom of choice to be Independent rather than deadlock in households stuff.

Every person will get fair jurisdiction and the criminal should be penalized forthwith. The slow procedure would get a velocity and everyone can freely fight for their basic rights.

Corruption starts with politics and this politics has made the system hollow. Uneligible politicians should be banned from entering politics and eventually the system. People having a criminal record should not get a chance in policymaking.

India will be independent when there will be no distinction in caste, religion, and gender, everyone should be treated equally. Poverty, Malnutrition, healthcare will be improved in each & every part of the country. No one will sleep hungry and will eat healthy food.

India will be Independent when everyone will get better health facilities at a reasonable cost because most of the savings get consumed by hospitals. Everyone should get a better living of standard and health.

Being a youth of this country, it is my foremost duty to point out all the good and bad sides. I also pledge to faithfully work on making this a great nation.

India is a developing country with a huge population and it has never been easy and never will to be a perfect country. But I really dream and wants to see my country be one. All it takes is the support and enthusiasm of every citizen.

Independent means full of light, full of beauty, and unlimited potential. India will be stronger when everyone feels flying like a self-reliant bird in the sky and relishing its freedom.

  • It's very interresting... thank you very much.
It's important to know History for build the present, progress and don't repeat the past.
    Have a good day !

    • Indeed, history tells us not to repeat things which are problematic. For better growth we should learn daily and improve.
      Thankyou for visiting

  • 💜 Thank YOU!!! unfortunately The Worst of The British Class System ReInforced The Caste System; while The Best of The British Educated

    ...💛💚💙...

    • British gave many advance technology but also extract our all the resources as well, and snatched triple the amount.

  • Depak Joshi, Well-written and interesting. I find it admirable that a huge, diverse population has become a cohesive nation in just 75 years. I am sure that the struggle continues. No country is without problems to overcome. Wishing India continued success! <3

    • Yeah, no country without problems is complete. We just have to focus on solving them and reducing the crises.
      Thank you for visiting.

  • VERY challenging, Jai! However, I disagree that "75 years is a long period to shape a country." The USA is a very young country at a little over 200 years, compared to India's existence for millennia.
Your integrity in your assessment of where the problems lie and what India will look like with each problem solved is wonderful. There is no shame in admitting when things are not perfect; only in refusing to see them and try to help.
Racism will always hound the human race. "If we all woke up at 6am one morning and found we were all the same color, religion, economic class and political party, by noon we would have found something about which to be prejudiced."
True freedom only comes from within each heart surrendered to the Creator's.
But we must still seek for justice, pray for human's souls, and work for a better world.
    THANX!!

    • Well said, No one can be the same but one thing which can be the same is humanity and no hate for others. If we look at everyone with respect and love there will be true freedom. India is a pure land where beliefs for a political party are never ended. After 200 years of slavery, we always hope for a better tomorrow.

Thank you very much for visiting.

  • All nations, all peoples every race colour tribe and tongue can be free (still earth bound for a season) but spiritually FREE. This truly is the greatest FREEDOM in the world. It is my TRUTH in this broken violent suffering world, Keep seeking. . .

    • Spirituality gives us power, belief. Without it our life is barren. We should spiritually be connected for a better tomorrow.
      Thank you

  • A GREAT WELL Written post. expressed with truth passion and feeling. We must all keep looking higher for our answers. Blessings.

  • India faces enormous challenges, as does the world. But idealistic young people like yourself offer great hope. I wish you happiness and success on your journey. Happy Independence Day!

    • "The youth of today are leaders of tomorrow" youth have the power which can shape the world. I hope the problems which the world facing will solve soon.
Thank you ma'am for always motivating me.

  • Politics ( here I mean dirty) is not going anywhere it's going to erupt from time to time.
Safety of all human beings especially women and children yes we need those.
Racism if not in color it will stay in the same caste system. One among us will say I am superior to you.
I know you have a few more and only 3 stuck to me.
The solution is education combined with Physical, Mental, and Spiritual well-being. The latter can be achieved by Yoga.

    • Great words, racism is a never ended issue if not color than caste, sex, race. All that we have to do is having a spiritual goal and love for all😇.

  • Great points about true liberty depending on women’s safety and the dismantling of racism/bigotry. Many seem to be moving in the right direction the world over, but unfortunately the changes will be too late for millions of disaffected people...

    • Well said, it would take time to bring a change but having a positive approach towards everyone will reduce the atrocities. Women safety is always a matter of seriousness and when women will feel safe the world will surely be independent.
