Going to see the northern lights dancing has always been my dream. Though that’s different I never got a chance, but I know the day will come when I’ll be standing there looking up at the sky for polar lights and witnessing the wonders of nature in cold winters.
Talking about winter, It’s my favourite season. I understand how tough the winter is for so many people around the world. But for me, winter is magical and beyond beautiful, especially winter nights.
Light is never as beautiful as it is during the most extreme times of the year. People often compare winter with darkness, but what about the lights we get from millions of other suns far and far away. The lights that travelled through billions of distances and unimaginable time, just to be ended in your eyes.
Isn’t it breathtaking?
The Magic of Northern Lights That Dances In The Sky
Many of you may already know about these polar lights or perhaps you’ve already witnessed them with your eyes. But in case you don’t know, let me explain what these lights are and where they come from.
There are few natural phenomena as awe-inspiring as the Northern Lights. Also known as the Aurora Borealis, the Northern Lights are a display of colourful light that appears in the night sky. They are caused by charged particles from the sun interacting with the Earth’s atmosphere.
The Northern Lights are most commonly seen in countries near the Arctic Circle, such as Norway, Finland, and Iceland. However, they can occasionally be seen as far south as the United States.
What makes the Northern Lights so rare and beautiful is that they are constantly changing. The colours and patterns are always in flux, making each display unique.
The Lights also tend to be most active during the winter months, when the nights are the longest. This makes them a special treat for those who can see them.
Tromsø, Norway is considered the “Capital of Northern Lights” and for a good reason. But people living in the northern part of Sweden also get to see it the most.
Look up in the sky sometimes, people!!
Do you remember this quote from Interstellar?
We used to look up at the sky and wonder at our place in the stars, now we just look down and worry about our place in the dirt.
COOper, Interstellar
Interstellar was right. In this material world, we are all too busy keeping our heads down, working our asses off making ends meet so that no one bothers to look up and be fascinated by the vast space anymore. In the symbolic sense, life is so hard we slowly forget about our dreams as we grow old.
We forgot the reality, we forgot our worth. We even forgot that we get this human life so luckily, whose chances are among the billionths of a per cent.
But yet we don’t realize the importance of it. Oftentimes forget to appreciate this beautiful gift of life and all the infinite wonders we have in front of our eyes or what we are yet to see.
Although I don’t get a clear sky here because of the weather and sometimes the immense amount of pollution. But I picked up the habit of looking up from wherever I was. I would look into the sky, and crack a smile making out that very limited ten to twenty stars in the clear sky.
However, it still makes me wonder about things that are hard to explain. Most people I’ve heard said thinking about the universe gives them an existential crisis.
But if you ask me, thinking or talking about the universe motivates me. I insist, that if you ever feel down just step outside and look up at the stars, you feel better. All your negative thoughts & sufferings will start to fade in front of those starlights.
All those numbers, concepts and thoughts we have as intelligent beings feel insignificant. This kind of motivation is perhaps the best thing in the world.
Take a journey To the Northern Lights At Midnight
I have so many things on my bucket list, but nothing is compared to the experience of lying down inside a snug igloo in Sweden, Norway, Finland, or Alaska and seeing the dance of those polar lights. The greetings send by the sun to illuminate the darkness.
I can never imagine or even describe how it’ll feel to stand under northern lights in a cold and dark winter. I can take all the darkness as long as I get to see these lights and billions of other suns behind them.
So, stay young at heart and treasure the dreams you have. And don’t forget to chase these incredible northern lights

Beautifully presented ୧(^ 〰 ^)୨
Sky has many things to offer you but I’ve always been fascinated by the stars especially. All I need is a clear sky in this bedlam but the bloody AQI xD.

Thanks Ashish. I’m glad you enjoyed it and thinks the same.
You’re right though, we’re unfortunate that we don’t get clear sky here. Otherwise the night sky has so much to offer.

Thank you for beautiful post and. pictures. This.is a journey of the heart. One day I hope you will achieve your desires. The open desert skies in Australia when the Southern Cross constellation can be seen is less spectacular but mind boggling to see. Looking up into the nighttime sky is therapeutic. Blessings!

I do hope one day I’ll get to see these wonders of nature.
You’re right looking up at night sky is like healing of soul. ❤️

Your comment touched my heart, Cheryl. ❤️
You’re right, some of our dreams may never come true, but the realization of this beautiful life is more important.
We should start enjoying it and appreciate every wonder we have in front of our eyes.
I do hope I get to live every dream I have but I’ll make sure to appreciate the life I have and all the wonders around me.

I, too, dream of seeing the Northern Lights. Although I live in Canada, I’d have to travel much further north to have any hope of seeing them. One day!
November 28, 2022 at 10:11 pm
Hope you’ll see that too soon.
And I think every person must see it atleast once in lifetime. It’s the experience that’ll stay with you forever.
Thanks Faye!

Be sure to video it. I wish phone camera had existed back then.
December 2, 2022 at 10:29 am
Yes of course, but more than recording it on the phone I would like to live that moment, free from any distractions (just like you did back then) 💗
December 3, 2022 at 1:04 am
The odd thing was it wasn’t very long the first night. It was longer the second night. Much longer.
December 3, 2022 at 12:08 pm
I too would prefer to see it for a longer. Lifetime experience. Also, do you remember the month you visited there?
December 4, 2022 at 2:59 pm
My husband was in a town outside of Fairbanks, Alaska by his job, it was odd because they have long nights and other places have very long days. I saw it during the period of long nights. It was in November .

So I did a test.
I said I have no doubt you’ll see them one day; you’re very determined and focused! 🙂
