Trump’s Come Back To The White House: Donald Trump made a big political comeback in 2024, winning another term as U.S. President after losing in 2020. He stayed in the spotlight through public events, social media, and his own media platform, energising his supporters with the slogan “Making America Great Again—Again.” His victory shows his lasting popularity among his base and highlights the divisions in American politics, with frustration over Biden’s policies playing a key role in his return.

Modi 3.0: The year 2024 was historic for the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) as they came to power for the third straight time. Narendra Modi, a prominent figure in Indian politics, has emerged as a global leader with his smart strategies in recent years. From the Ram Mandir to development projects, he faced significant criticism from opposition parties but still managed to secure the public’s support for a third consecutive term.

Bangladesh Political Turmoil: In 2024, Bangladesh faced political unrest and social challenges, marked by protests and clashes. Opposition parties demanded Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s resignation and a neutral government for elections, leading to violent confrontations with law enforcement. As a result, PM Hasina fled away and gave her resignation and the superpower formed an interim government in Bangladesh. The alleged genocide of Bangladeshi Hindus in Bangladesh was shocking and the whole world and Western media were silent about innocent Hindus killing in Bangladesh.

2. Major Conflict Between Countries

Conflict or war is a destructive force between nations, impacting innocent lives and the entire world. This year, we witnessed significant loss of innocent lives due to wars that shook the global community. War not only affects the world economy but also deeply threatens humanity. For example, the Russia-Ukraine conflict and the Israel-Palestine war.

Russia-Ukraine War: The Russia-Ukraine war, now in its second year, has deeply impacted global politics, economics, and humanitarian efforts. Ukraine, backed by Western aid, has reclaimed some territories, while Russia intensified attacks on cities and critical infrastructure, causing widespread blackouts and suffering. Millions have been displaced, and tensions between NATO and Russia have escalated, with sanctions straining Russia’s economy but also driving up global energy and food prices. Peace talks have made little progress, and shifting alliances are shaping new global power dynamics as the conflict continues.

Israel- Palestine War: By early 2024, Israeli forces had severely damaged Gaza, destroying homes, farmland, schools, and cultural landmarks, and displacing nearly all of its 2.3 million residents. Over 100,000 Israelis were also displaced. The conflict escalated regionally, with Israel targeting Hezbollah in Lebanon, including the killing of its leader Hassan Nasrallah, and engaging directly with Iranian forces, heightening Middle East tensions.

Afghanistan-Pakistan Tension: By the end of 2024, Afghan civilians suffered heavily, with many killed in intense airstrikes by the Pakistani army. The Taliban reported that the strikes claimed the lives of 46 civilians. In retaliation, the Afghan Taliban advanced toward the Pakistan border.

3. Major Accidents Happened in 2024

The year 2024 was marked by natural and man-made disasters that claimed numerous innocent lives. Some were so severe that they left no chance of survival. From landslides to road accidents, many lives were lost, and billions of dollars in economic losses were incurred. It was also a devastating year for the aviation sector, with major aeroplane crashes, such as the South Korean Airplane Crash and the Azerbaijan Plane Crash.

Wayanad India Landslide Incident: On July 30, 2024, intense monsoon rains caused devastating landslides in Kerala’s Wayanad district. The first landslide hit near the Punnappuzha River’s origin, affecting Punjirimattom and Mundakkai, while a second landslide in Chooralmala triggered flash floods, destroying the village. At least 123 people lost their lives, with many missing or injured. Rescue efforts faced challenges due to heavy rain, tough terrain, and damaged infrastructure, including a collapsed bridge isolating 400 families.

Azerbaijan Plane Crash: On December 25, 2024, an Azerbaijan Airlines Flight crashed near Aktau, Kazakhstan, killing 38 of the 67 people on board. The plane, diverted due to bad weather, was reportedly shot down by Russian air defences during a Ukrainian drone attack. Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev confirmed the incident, demanded compensation, and accused Russia of electronic interference. President Putin offered condolences but denied responsibility.

South Korean Plane Accident: On December 29, 2024, Jeju Air Flight 2216, a Boeing 737-800, crashed while approaching Muan International Airport in South Korea. The crash, caused by a bird strike that led to landing gear failure, claimed 179 lives out of 181 people on board. The plane hit a concrete barrier during an emergency landing, causing a deadly fireball. This is South Korea’s worst aviation disaster in decades and the deadliest worldwide in 2024.

4. Space Exploration

Sunita Williams Stuck in Space: If there’s one story that kept us glued to updates, it was astronaut Sunita Williams being stuck on the International Space Station (ISS) due to a technical glitch. But here’s the thing: Sunita has shown us what it means to adapt and persevere. From conducting vital experiments to sharing heartfelt (and sometimes humorous) messages from space, she’s become a global symbol of resilience. The world is eagerly awaiting her safe return, rooting for her every single day.

The Sun’s Close-Up: The Parker Solar Probe gave us the closest-ever look at the Sun, revealing mind-blowing details about solar winds and helping scientists predict space weather better. Yes, we’re officially one step closer to understanding our fiery neighbour.

However, it wasn’t all bad, here are some good things that happened in 2024:

4. Animals Making a Comeback

One of the most inspiring stories of 2024 was about animals that came back from the brink of extinction, thanks to decades of conservation efforts.

Humpback Whales: From just 1,400 in 1960 to a whopping 135,000 in 2024.

Mountain Gorillas: Once down to 250, their population now stands at 1,100.

Giant Pandas: From 1,114 in 1980 to 1,864 today.

Bengal Tigers: Their numbers rose from 1,000 to 3,500, roaring back stronger than ever.

Bald Eagles: Soaring from 410 in the 1960s to 316,700 today.

White Rhinos: From just 100 left in the wild to an impressive 18,000.

Sea Otters: Their population skyrocketed from a mere 50 to an estimated 125,000.

Sumatran Orangutans: From 11,000 to 14,000—a small but vital increase for this critically endangered species.

5. History Made in Women’s Sports

For the first time ever, the Women’s T20 World Cup was co-hosted alongside the Men’s T20 World Cup. This move wasn’t just about cricket; it was about giving women’s sports the global stage they deserve. Oh, and speaking of women’s sports, the U.S. women’s soccer team crushed it by winning their fifth FIFA Women’s World Cup title.

6. First Black Astronaut Candidate Makes It to Space After More Than 60 Years

In one of the most inspiring stories of the year, Ed Dwight, the first Black astronaut candidate from the 1960s, finally got to live his dream. At 90 years old, he boarded a Blue Origin flight and went to space. Proof that it’s never too late to make history.

7. Overdose Deaths and Youth Vaping Declined

Here’s some great news: overdose deaths in the U.S. dropped by 17%, and youth vaping hit its lowest level in a decade. Big wins for public health! It feels good to see positive change happening in areas that impact so many lives.

8. Bashar al-Assad’s Regime Fell in Syria

One of the year’s most shocking moments came when Bashar al-Assad’s regime collapsed in Syria. While the fall of his government ended years of oppression for many, the country’s future remains uncertain. Let’s hope 2025 brings stability and healing to the region.

A Little Something to Take Into 2025

2024 wasn’t perfect, no year ever is. But it reminded us to keep going, even when things get tough. Whether it’s celebrating small wins or picking ourselves up after setbacks, every moment is a step forward.

As we step into 2025, let’s remember: Life is a mix of highs and lows, but the magic happens when we choose to see the beauty in both.

Here’s to a year full of laughter, love, and new adventures. Bring it on, 2025!

Happy New Year!

[This post was supposed to go out on January 1st, 2025, but due to some technical issues, it got late]

America was born from war. According to Wikipedia, beginning with The Revolutionary War, America has been involved in 107 wars (and counting). It also says we won 81 of those. (Although, I am not sure what winning means) That is 76% which is a rather good record, I guess, if you like stats?

But what good did all those wars accomplish? Well, of course in our first war, we won our independence from The King’s rule, our freedom, and the right to govern ourselves. Other wars were fought to keep our freedom from those who wanted to take it away.

We fought for and with our allies when they were threatened and when we were needed. We fought for a variety of reasons in other wars, some good reasons, some bad reasons. Wars are ongoing today as we continue to add to the stats.

What has happened to America along the way? In my opinion, America has hardened its heart, and therefore become severely divided. We have drawn lines in the sand, divided into factions and we all scream out, “nobody, but nobody is right, and everyone is wrong until they agree with me and my faction.”

It is Just Politics as Usual

Some say it is just politics and it has always been this way. In case you do not know, in American government we have the left and the right, Democrats and Republicans. They have always argued, never agree, and never will. Many say this is the problem.

No, that is not the problem at all! America used to be united, despite our differences. Although we fought a 4-year civil war, afterwards we re-united. We were again “The United States.” We might have still disagreed on how to solve a problem but we “united” to resolve it.

If you have been paying any attention to our country lately, you know we are anything but a “United States.” There are so many issues dividing us, it seems hopeless that we could ever unite again. Our enemies need not wage war against us, threaten us, kill us, or destroy our independence and freedom. Hell, we are killing each other and destroying America and freedom by ourselves! (Please excuse my French).

There was a song in the 60’s that foretold a bit of what has been occurring in America called “For What it’s Worth?” By: Buffalo Springfield.

Here is one line from that song: “There’s battle lines being drawn. Nobody’s right if everybody’s wrong.” (You can hear the song here) Youtube Video.

You Might Ask, What’s The Answer Smarty Pants?

Well, the answer is not religion. I am a Christian so it’s extremely hard for me to say that. But for the sake of this article let us try a different approach, an approach that would actually work for everyone. It is worth a try.

If I were to say, the answer IS religion, the immediate response would be, which religion? Or, I do not believe in religion, or a multitude of negative responses. So, you can see the discussion very quickly divides us. More wars have been fought in the name of religion than anything else. We have probably won few of those wars and if we did, it did not seem to help based on where we are today.

Again, Mr. “Know it All” What’s The Answer?

I have an answer, I am going to give you my answer, but you will not like the answer. The answer to all America’s problems is simply one word, “discipline.”

It is discipline that determines everything in my life, your life, and the lives of people all over the world. I must believe that unless there is a medical or mental problem involved, that everyone really knows right from wrong. But we become one-sided or even radical when we have no “discipline.” Without discipline we lose our common sense.

We all know the basic, common, humanitarian tenets that, if followed would unite America again. But although most Americans know how they “should act” and what they “should do.” The problem is that we do not have the discipline to do them.

The reason Religion is not the answer to America’s division, hatred, and constant warring is we have allowed different Religions and our many differences to divide us. We are stubborn and hardheaded, we accept no belief system but our own. We would not be caught dead reading about another person’s beliefs if they did not match ours.

Understanding and being tolerant of other ways does not mean I have to sacrifice my own beliefs.

We All Want the Same Thing

All peoples around the world do share common beliefs about truths, rules, commandments, or precepts. Whatever names they are given, they show us how to be decent human beings and how to get along together. This list below proves that the answer to our continuous wars and division cannot simply be religion. It shows that having the discipline to live our lives by our common ground is the answer.

This is a woefully simplified list of the precepts or rules concerning most people on our little planet. There is so, so much more than this brief list that we all have in common. I did the best I could in a short space.

We just need the discipline to study and practice our similarities rather than study and fight about our differences. I was quite surprised when I studied other countries and other people. I was also reminded that the United States was created from all races, beliefs, and many types of people. They are our brothers, sisters, and neighbors.

We know there are extremists in our world because they do not discipline their thinking, but below are things and reasons we can come together.

A Sample of What I Found

Christianity (31.1%) Love God and Love your brother as yourself.

Islam (24.9%) Love God and be good to others.

Irreligion (15.6%) Generally speaking, have the same precepts as others, but no Deity.

Hinduism (15.2%) Buddhism and Hinduism agree on many things: karma, dharma, moksha and reincarnation.

Buddhism (6.6%) To do no evil. To do good. To save all beings.

There is a common theme here: To love and be good to all other beings.

For a long time, people have been really interested in the moon. It’s like Earth’s mysterious friend up in the sky that still holds many secrets. If you don’t already know, recently, the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has been doing some amazing things to learn more about the moon.

They sent a spacecraft called Chandrayaan-3 to land on the moon’s south pole, and it worked! This makes India the fourth country, after the USA, Russia, and China, to do something like this.

The missions before this also found out cool stuff about the moon, like how hot or cold it gets, and that there’s sulphur there. These achievements show that ISRO is really good at exploring the moon and helping us understand it better.

ISRO, a space organization was transporting their rocket parts by bicycle in the early 60s due to lack of funding and resources. And now, they’ve landed on the south people of the People, the first space organisation to be able to do so.

Today, we’re celebrating ISRO’s success, and it’s well-deserved. ISRO is a space agency that loves taking on tough challenges and never gives up, even when things don’t go perfectly. Chandrayaan-3, their latest mission to the moon, gives us hope after two previous missions didn’t work out in 2008 and 2019. Hope is a powerful thing; it makes us stronger and more determined.

The team of brave scientists made a whole new mission in just four years, and they did it without spending as much money as it takes to make big Hollywood movies like Interstellar and Avengers.

ISRO’s path to success has been filled with challenges, from money problems to restrictions in the past. I want to show you how ISRO went from starting small, like transporting equipment in bicycles for launching, to launching missions to the Moon and even the Sun, becoming a big and successful space agency.

How ISRO Was Formed – An Unexpected Journey

ISRO’s journey was like a roller coaster ride it was named as The Indian National Committee for Space Research (INCOSPAR) in 1962 by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of Independent India. But its preparation was started way back during British rule in India. When Britishers were busy looting India there were some scientists who were writing about the future of science and space for India.

During that time, a scientist named S. K. Mitra carried out experiments in Kolkata, where he used ground-based radio to study something called the ionosphere. This was an important step in understanding the outer space environment around our planet.

Afterwards, Indian scientists like C.V. Raman and Meghnad Saha also made important contributions to scientific knowledge that helped us explore and understand space better.

It was a tough time for India because India was struggling for its Independence from British India along with starvation & poverty, but as it is said – “Where there is a will, there’s a way”

Indian Scientist kept their morale high and after 1945, two important scientists in India started working together on space research. Their names were Vikram Sarabhai and Homi Bhabha. Vikram Sarabhai created the Physical Research Laboratory in Ahmedabad, and Homi Bhabha founded the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research in 1945. They played a big role in advancing space research in India.

Vikram Sarabhai is the name for which Chandrayan 3 Lander was named as Lander Rover. Homi Jahangir Bhabha is known as the father of Atomic Energy in India, his contribution has made India a Nuclear Power.

One day, Vikram Sarabhai and Homi Bhabha met with Jawaharlal Nehru and explained why it’s important to spend money on space projects. After hearing their reasons, Nehru agreed, and in 1962, they started the Indian National Committee for Space Research (INCOSPAR), now known as the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), with Vikram Sarabhai leading the way.

It’s only Dr. Sarabhai’s relentless dedication that NASA entered into an agreement to lend India their Nike Apache rocket. The INCOSPAR initiative’s primary aim was to accomplish this rocket’s successful launch. However, a crucial requirement was a rocket launching facility, which India did not possess at that time.

How India Launched Its First Rocket – The Story Behind Bicycle

The ISRO journey started in a little church in a small village in Kerala. Dr Sarabhai was on a big hunt to find the perfect spot in India to launch rockets into space. His search led him to a quiet fishing village called Thumba in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.

Something exciting happened there. When he went inside the Mary Magdalene Church, the compass needle did something unusual. Instead of pointing north or south like it normally does, it just stayed still.

This discovery showed that the church was right on the line where the Earth’s magnetic forces balance and the village was very near to the middle of the Earth. Dr Sarabhai saw how important this was – when you launch a rocket from a place closer to the Earth’s middle, it gets a big boost from the Earth’s spinning, making it go up faster and better.

To get the land for their scientific work, Dr. Sarabhai and his scientist friends met the church leader, Reverend Peter Pereira. He greeted them warmly and even invited them to Sunday church.

While they were at church, the bishop told the people there about Dr. Sarabhai’s request for the land. He asked them if they would be willing to give the land for science. The people agreed, and in less than 100 days, they moved away from the land so the scientists could use it.

The church was changed into a place where they designed and built rockets. The bishop’s house became a workshop for making things for space. Even the place where they kept cows turned into a lab. This village became the Thumba Equatorial Rocket Launching Centre.

The moment when NASA’s rocket arrived at the launch platform was quite something – our scientists used bicycles to carry parts of the rocket! and in a bullock cart!. Everything was going well until a sudden problem happened while they were putting the rocket together and setting up the launching equipment.

The machine that lifts heavy things, called the hydraulic crane, started to leak. Even though this was a big challenge, the scientists didn’t give up. They worked together to move the rocket by hand. But then, they found out that the system that was supposed to launch the rocket remotely wasn’t working right. But if you’re resilient and determined nothing can stop you.

After the team talked and decided, they chose a person to control the launcher. Once that was done, everything finally seemed ready. An alarm went off to make sure everyone stayed away from the launch area.

Everyone was praying for the success of ISRO. As the day was almost over, everyone was watching, waiting for India’s big rocket launch.

On the evening of November 21, 1963, at 6:25 PM, something really exciting happened. India launched its very first rocket into space as the sun was setting. This was a huge deal because it marked the beginning of India’s journey into space exploration. After this, our scientists kept working hard and didn’t stop. They completed many amazing space missions and achieved a lot of success without ever turning back.

Warfare or we can say a way to prove oneself powerful and victorious is also a method to assuage self-esteem. We all have fought with someone in our early days. Recall your childhood when was the last time you fought with your siblings or with your friends.

That time your elder brother or sister punches you for some kind of mischief or as fun. But, what was your counter-attack? Did you retaliate? Had you gone and punched back someone more powerful than you ( your elder) or did you find someone who could do justice?

Siblings fight

I think you would not go to fight back until you hold the same power and position. The only option you have is to reach out to your Father. Now, what your father will do? Will he scold your elder? Though he could slap him. But, he will definitely find a way to build better communication between you and your elder. He will also teach you a lesson about humanity and friendship because he knows that this misunderstanding may lead to many problems for both of you in the future.

Now, assume another thing, suppose while playing on the society ground one bully boy came and snatched your ball. And, you on the other hand wanted to fight but could not, because you lacked power.

Your friends provoked you and you somehow gathered courage and went on to fight only to be crushed by him badly in return. At last, your mother intervened. She did not just bring your ball back but also gave you moral support to fight these kinds of situations.

As a grown-up today, when we relate this situation with the world we see we are enough mature but still fighting like a cats and dogs. Everyone is busy blaming each other. Sincerity has been lost. What is the need to be this harsh on others? In Mahabharata, an Indian religious book it is written that “one should always follow the path of ‘Dharma’. Dharma is above then any religion and one should always do what is right.“

Dharma means a code of proper conduct conforming to one’s duty and nature or an individual’s duty fulfilled by observance of custom or law. What is our Dharma/ Duty in the world? Where do we stand now? What’s the message we are giving to the world giving during the current warfare?

Is War Really that Necessary?

War is a state of conflict of interest between two countries or a conflict of opinions. It is a method to attain peace in the mainland of the country. The irony is war is a method to bring peace but that peace comes at a huge price. The price could be a loss of the life of millions of civilians or huge economic losses. It not only costs humans but also our companions like forests, habitats, species, etc.

War is a method to save the mainland from invaders. History tells many countries fought for their mainland and regained it from invaders. We can also say that saving the land from invaders is a part of saving the dignity and cultures of those who want to destroy it.

Some also do battle to satisfy their ego and want to be ‘king of kings’ always. But what they don’t realize is that their ego is hurting millions of people around the globe. Martin Luther King once said, “We Have Guided Missiles And Misguided Man“. Here he wants to say that ego is superior to humanity. Technology becomes more obedient to the person instead who has invented it.

What’s Next After The War?

When two different ideas conflict with each other, major destruction occurs. It’s a universal fact. Cultivated land turns into a barren area, big buildings turn into hollow ruins, and roads become deserted. The playground where children used to play and claim their kind of possession was left with bullet shells and weapons.

War can give the feeling of mastery to the winning country but in reality, the war only left harsh memories that’ll be remembered for ages. Massive bloodshed and destruction bring fear to the victims and they can’t come out from this fear for many years. People lose the homeland where they were born and are compelled to take shelter under refugee tents. Children lose their parents, thousands of people become single-owned families, and many pets are waiting for their owners and they die of hunger.

I remembered a scene from an animated movie about Ramayana (Hindu Religious Book), there was a conversation between Lord Ram and Lord Laxman about the rule of warriors and war. Lord Laxman asked his elder brother Lord Ram:- “How Could You Cremate The Body Of Our Enemies Along With Those of Our Soldiers”?

Lord Ram replied:- “Dear brother they were our men and enemy’s men while they were alive but In Death, they are no longer enemies. Do they not deserve a solemn cremation?”

Lord Laxman:- “It is not like a true warrior. A true warrior should move away from such emotions.“

Lord Ram:- “When we set out of this expedition I too was full of anger and bitterness. But on the journey to Lanka, I have come to see that all of us have received the precious gift of life from God. It is more important to be just a good human being than a good warrior. Have not all of us sprung from the same source? But some of us in ignorance draw our bows and swords against our fellow creatures. Many have fallen to this war today and many more will die before the war is done. As a warrior, I should continue to fight the battle but when I burn the dead I should pray the world is free from all the wars. And a man doesn’t raise this hand in anger against his brother”.

Source – Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama

Can War Be Eliminated?

We never truly be certain about any happening of future wars. But according to Stockholm, the total global military expenditure rose to 1981 billion dollars last year (2020), an increase of 2.6 %. The number is kept on increasing every year. What does this indicate? Are we heading somewhere, maybe extinction?

It’s obvious that some want to save their territory and some are here making money by selling warheads because fear of attack is something that pushes the weak countries to expend much more on weapons and military than on their people.

There is nothing wrong with saving the mainland from invaders. Everyone has the right to save their territory and fight for their people. However, if there will no chaos and conflict of interest between countries so war may not happen. But it is also true that if someone will not war or at least cold war how the Economy of other countries will boost?

“Everything Is Fair In Love And War“, I heard this quote multiple times in my life but today I really felt this looking at the current scenario between Russia and Ukraine. I’ll not blame any country for what’s happening but I can blame the humans living in this world together for centuries.

As long as greed is stronger there will always be sufferings.

I bet we all are waiting for the year 2021 and hoping to be a part of the new normal. Many of us will admit that 2020 wasn’t our favorite year. There’s so much happened this year from the global pandemic to the global movement of racial justice. It wasn’t just the virus to hate about the year 2020. But the question is,

Will things are going to work pretty well next year? Is 2021 will be the expiration year of Coronavirus? or will everything get back to normal again? Well, it’s good to look for the silver lining. But before that Here’s how 2020 was the weirdest year ever.

Maybe 2020 just suddenly passed or Maybe it was the longest year we had

If I just talk about only starting 2 months of 2020, then perhaps it feels like at least 2 years ago. There’s so much happened that every country has its own 2020 rewind.

But for many of us it just suddenly passed who spent their entire lock-down all alone and have nothing to do except washing hands again & again.

Maybe 2020 was the year that separated us or Maybe it was the year that brings us even closer

Even if the social gathering isn’t allowed and we have to maintain social-distancing from everyone else around, still we saw communities coming together which is a good sign for the future.

We get more close to our family. We saw neighbors doing things to help each other whether singing a song from a balcony or doing shopping for the needy. And maybe you’ll find have a better relationship with all those around you.

Maybe we’ll celebrate that we came this far or Maybe we won’t for the ones that we lost

Some really bad & weird things went down in 2020. The virus isn’t the only thing to be blamed. But as the new year is just a day away, the last of 2020 might be the full-on celebration all around the world.

Or, Perhaps the new year celebration won’t happen this year out of condolences to the families who lost their loved ones.

Maybe it was the year that ceased us or Maybe it gave us a chance to explore something new

Despite refrained from most of the human activities you’ll see that lock-down actually helped a lot of people in finding their new skills and capabilities.

Even if, isolation puts people into stress & depression, still a lot of us have found new skills and new things to do. Some folks spent time fixing their houses, other’s gardening, and cooking.

Maybe it was the year of terrific wildfires & climate change or Maybe it has made humanity cleaner

Just 2 days in and the world caught fire. How did we not see this coming? Whether it’s Australia or Amazon we witnessed devastating wildfires and bizarre climate change activities all around the world.

Still, NASA satellites and analysts showed that air pollution levels dramatically dropped in major polluted countries. With less human activity in the world, the air got cleaner which is going to save thousands of lives.

Maybe we’re facing the worst Economic crisis & Unemployment or Maybe yes, we’re facing it (No exceptions)

2020 Economic crisis believed to be the worst recession since the Great Depression. Is 2020 jinxed or what? People losing their jobs at an astonishing rate. There is a significant rise in mental illness, alcohol use & poverty rate.

However, the report of the World Economic Forum ‘Future of Jobs‘ estimates that 54% of all employees need new skills by 2022. So, those who learned something new other than fixing houses & cooking might get the benefit here.

Even the tech companies and startups came up with new ideas of all new trends whether to help you stay connected or anything that facilitates. So it might possible that the future holds something great.

Maybe 2020 was the worst year we had or maybe it was much better than other Pandemics era

If you can turn back the time you find that this wasn’t the only Pandemics that humanity has to go through.

History shows that there was a much worse pandemic already happened, whether it’s the Spanish flu of 1918 aka “Mother of the pandemic” that took over 500 million people and responsible for 5 crore deaths(approx), or whether it’s World war that let millions of people die in starvation and hunger.

We should be thankful that this time we have much better medical facilities and equipment (but I’m still not sure about World war).

Maybe this year has covered our faces or Maybe it showed us the real faces

Wearing a mask might be the precaution until the cure is revealed, but this trend was nothing new for highly polluted countries. The only difference this time was that we spent the entire year covering our faces and sitting home.

But not all got this lifetime opportunity to laying down on the bed to save the world.

You might know that actually a lot of good people have been doing good things for people. Study shows that the number of people to be volunteered dramatically increased worldwide this year. Medical workers aren’t the only heroes in the house, those people should also be recognized for humanitarian work.

And yep,

this all happened in just one year. Isn’t it weird? It is. We did it we’re officially a part of weird history. Now I really want a movie or a video game based on 2020.

If you are still looking for more silver lining out of the dark cloud of 2020 then I would like to say that possibly personal hygiene will be a part of the new normal. People will not sneeze on other people’s faces again.

Now, what do you think, Is 2020 was just a tutorial? or, will 2021 surely be a great year?

By the way, are we going to scream Happy New Year or JUMANJI this new year’s eve?

.

Democracy has become a controversial affair which incorporated to provide equal rights to the citizens of the country and having a motive of “by the people, for the people”. People who live under the wings of Democracy enjoy equal rights, freedom of speech, liberty, expression, and many more which communist states don’t provide.

Everything that started for a reason later turned into something else (like evil) or sometimes completely disappeared. So, is the same happening with democracy too? Is democracy really dying?

As time flows things never remain the same, a new generation, a new representative of the public, a new government, new perspectives, and new laws (some are beneficial for the public but some are just a threat to the democracy) makes everything worse to worsen. The term Democracy is itself changing rapidly. I will try to illuminate how?

Before we go any further let us have a look at the meaning and brief History of Democracy.

What Is Democracy?

Democracy is a form of government in which peoples have the power to choose the legislature and their representative, people choose their government by using their voting rights in which only eligible voters (above 18 years old) can vote.

In a democratic country, people can exercise their power to choose their representative or ruling Government directly or indirectly through a system involving periodic free elections. It is a democratic system of government.

India and United States are known to be the two largest democratic countries in the World.

And, Norway, Iceland, Sweden, New Zealand, and Finland are the top 5 Full Democracies nations according to the Democracy Index by country 2019 (source:-Wikipedia)

Why Democratic Country Needs a Constitution?

The constitution helps in making rules and regulations and principles of a country. In a Democracy, every citizen enjoys the basic right, so on that grounds, the constitution helps citizens to use fundamental rights like freedom, expression, speech, etc. The constitution helps in setting values that should be followed by its law-abiding citizens.

Democracy is further classified on the basis of political freedom or mixed monarchies and dictatorship. This include –

Full Democracies

Flawed Democracies

Hybrid Regimes

Authoritarian Regimes

A Brief History of Democracy

Democracy has a vast history but we will not go in-depth, the term Democracy originated from ancient Greek political and philosophical thought in the city-state of Athens during classical antiquity. In the word Democracy, ‘demos’ mean common people and ‘Kratos’ strength.

Cleisthenes, also known as the Father of democracy, was an ancient Greece that came into power with the support of the Athenian people. Athenians established what is generally held as the first democracy in 508-507 BC.

Different Types of Democracy

There are two major types of Democracy –

Direct Democracy:- It is a form of Democracy where people govern directly. It requires the wide participation of citizens in politics. It also is known as pure democracy. These nations seem to have only limited problems in their democratic functioning.

Representative Democracy:- It is an indirect democracy where Sovereignty is held by the people’s representatives. Electoral Democracy, Dominant party System, parliamentary Democracy (popular in India), Presidential Democracy, and Jacksonian Democracy (a variant of presidential democracy popular in the USA) are the types of Representative Democracy.

As of now, there are two major Democracies one is considered to be the superpower and another one is the largest Democracy in the world. The USA is considered the superpower nation of the world and can exert influence or project power on a global scale.

Whereas, India or Hindustan, or Bharat is known for its walk with everyone’s motto and secular country. If the USA has the largest economy then India has the largest variety of cultures, and rituals are among the most diversified countries in the world, and of course known for its population and colorful history.

But in-ground reality where do both these countries stand in terms of the level of democracy?

Every democratic country needs a strong constitution that clearly defines the fundamental rights, freedom, legitimized rights, liberties, and security of their citizen so that no dominant group can exercise its power against less powerful groups. As I said above the meaning and perspective of democracy are changing rapidly. This new generation is more into politics. They know when their rights are overruled by these giants or greedy politicians.

I recently noticed some grounds where I think that the basic concept of democracy is dying and its constitution is really counting its last breath. I also agree that many of you will not agree with my perspectives and why I said and think that democracy or freedom to express one’s thoughts is soon going to be overruled. For me, this is what is going on in my country and perhaps yours too.

Here are the 5 grounds Where Democracy is Dying

Concept of Democracy

Elections

Security

Media

Equality

Healthcare

Elections

Elections are the most awaited time for delegates and citizens. If the United States has to wait every 4 years so India has to wait for 5 years. Every citizen has a hope that this time will be different and newcomers will make a good change. An election is a process through which a citizen can exercise their power of the vote to select a favorable candidate. but wait! Here’s the biggest twist.

There is presidential democracy in the United States where two major parties (Democratic & Republic) have their candidate for presidential posts and there is a long process behind that, but if there is democracy so why the citizens cannot elect their representatives? Why do the representatives make the choice or prefer only that community where there is a chance of vote? Why did only powerful and rich men get a chance for a presidential post?

Same as in India there are plenty of parties but the major ones are Indian National Congress (INC), and the Ruling Bhartiya Janta party (BJP). If we go through the background of the politicians, the majority have a criminal record, are millionaires, and are uneducated. So where is the Democracy?

Why don’t we have the power to choose the right candidate? Why the common people have become just a voting machine for them?

Security

We all have the right to live and freedom of speech as per the constitution, and the law is there to protect us from threats and injustice that happens to us, but that security is only in the books of the constitution or perhaps we didn’t understand this concept completely.

A report suggests that there are less than 20% of people today can say that they trust their government.

There are 106 rape occurs in India and in every 15 minutes one woman becomes a victim of a rapist, and a majority of the cases don’t even report.

Whereas in the USA, having a license for a gun is easier than having a green card. By the end of 2019, there were 417 mass shootings happened in the United States.

CBS News wrote:- “There were more mass shootings than days in 2019”

In the Year 2020 graph of ‘shooting a person’ declined, just because of the coronavirus lockdown. So where is the right of citizens to live freely?

Media

This is the fourth pillar of democracy and the most important part of democracy, the whole country trusts the media more than the government. Media works or I can say ‘had worked’ to present the reality and true picture of what is going on in the country.

But now it is all just a TRP game. They become business-minded, but anyway they are corporates too. For me, the media is losing the trust we had in them. Now we have to search for each and every piece of news from different sources for its authenticity.

We are bound to do this, we can’t just stick to a particular source for trust reasons. Now you can see why people get teed off at the media. Media plays an important role in political influence in the country and the fact is they are really enjoying that.

Instead of loving people and using money, people often love money and use people
Wayne Gerard Trotman

The above quote is appropriate for the Indian media that greed has stirred truth and has far removed citizens from their rights. Once Rusty Eric said “as long as Greed is stronger than compassion, there will always be suffering” and exactly the citizens are suffering.

The media never shows what is true. They are too busy telecasting useless debates and inappropriate news and competing in their industry.

Whose fault is this? The government? Media? Or us? who still watching and trusting them.

Equality

When we talk about equality there can be a lot to discuss but in the very short term, equality means, equal rights for all. There is no discrimination on the basis of caste, race, gender, or religion. The constitution is built to protect equal rights.

However, no one could ever imagine that political influence can even amend these constitutions accordingly which makes it easy for their own rules and capital. Everything will be forgotten after winning the elections whether it is George Floyd in America or Casteism in India.

Healthcare

The true picture of Healthcare facilities has been shown during the coronavirus period. If one country has the most expensive healthcare system so another one expends only 1% of GDP on healthcare facilities.

Of course, India ranks 145 among 195 countries in terms of healthcare facilities. And with the most expensive healthcare, the USA ranks 7 among the 195 countries.

Despite the largest economy and the largest democracy, we don’t have equality in terms of health benefits, so don’t you think democracy is dying? In India, patients lack basic needs like ambulances, stretchers, emergency wards, and medicine, and in the USA if these things are available then because of the expensive healthcare systems, it is unaffordable for middle and lower-class people despite paying huge taxes.

Salaries of Americans have risen but net pay remains the same due to increasing charges of health insurance. Why the healthcare expenditure in the United States?

Democracy was incorporated so that we could elect the right Representative for the country but we have just become slaves to powerful people’s business model.

As I said above everything that started for a reason later turned into something evil. For instance, the Feminist movement that has started to protect and provide equal rights to women and empower them by giving them equal opportunities as a man has too turned into something else. How? You can read it here.

So, what do you think Is democracy really dying the silent death?

P.S:- I am just trying to express my opinion about the flaws in Democracy and it is my personal view. If anyone wants a healthy discussion to improve me on this topic feel free to express your views in the comment section. I would love to read them all.

2020: the official game: How many of you really like playing realistic survival games? The games full of adventure, reckless, ups & downs, fighting, and most important survival. Perhaps they are the most addictive games ever.

It gives you that feeling of action that can only be seen in movies like Jumanji and Zathura.

But Year 2020 game crosses all the limits and boundaries. People say survival games aren’t real. Anyway Year 2020 is not a simulation but real.

Unlike any other game, this game provides you the realistic experience, audios, visuals & emotions. Nothing can be more real than this.

Description/About the game

2020: The official game. The game is set in a post-2019 period: In 2020 the world saw an outbreak of an unknown infection that is destroying the human race. And it didn’t stop here.

It all started with Australian bushfires, Amazon forest fires, and then massive earthquakes, cyclones, gas tragedies, riots, and environmental crises in various parts of the world, followed by the Locust Swarm attack in East Africa and South Asian countries, threatening a food crisis.

The whole world is under lock-down. Major events canceled all across the world and a lot of chaos is going on in nearly every country, leading Global Emergency.

Facebook our teenage partner, our first social platform where we posted so many shits. I still remember I started Facebook when I was in class 9th when I posted my first ever photo on the social platform to show to the world with just 10 likes and no comments. And that time it feels like we had a much bigger and better platform to share the memories that we lived with our friends and families.

But as we grown we get used to it. We started posting :-

What we ate?

How we feel?

What we have done the night before? and

What we’ll do later and with whom?

But then something big happened. Suddenly Thumbs Up lost his respect when other Emojis showed up. Family photos lost its identity when Selfies showed up.

But the tables completely turned when ‘MEMES’ showed up on FB posts. That was the turning point of what we are seeing today. Most of us haven’t changed our profile since then.

No one can ever thought that one day these normal-looking weird jokes will take over the platform like this. They ate up my phone gallery. Shoutout to the memers who played so well. My greetings to them. Not gonna lie but you’ve done a great job, this new world gonna need a good memer.

Where It come from?

Do you really know the concept of memes? Where does it exactly come from? well, let’s take a look to the past.

A meme is a unit of cultural information spread by imitation. The meme is taken from a Greek ‘MIMEA’ meaning imitated and introduced in 1976 by British evolutionary biologist Richard Dawkins in his work “The Selfish Gene”.

History of meme

Taking a quote from Inception movie-

An idea is like a virus. Resilient. Highly contagious. And even the smallest seed of an idea can grow. It can grow to define or destroy you
COBB

And his concept is now trending worldwide and perhaps more contagious than any other virus.

These memes completely changed the way I look at the situation every time, even normal-looking photos. It just pumped up my bad habit of laughing at a serious moment.

Meme opened up a new world. It’s a new way to define something. It’s a new way of marketing. Have you ever seen Fevicol ad memes? Check out their FB page. It’s a new way to attract millions of followers to your page.

Meme holds the power either to make you internet sensation or to defame you overnight for your deeds. Even somewhat in the Politics, memes are getting their place secured which however catching the attention of youth.

We all know the concept of Demand & Supply. Due to huge demand, a lot of trollers and memers has entered the field with their meme pages. Simply put, Facebook is more like Memebook now.

Facebook Top Fan Badge

One of the latest updates on Facebook was the introduction of the Top-Fan badge or you can say a ‘little Jewel’ icon beside your name while commenting on any of the popular pages. It differentiates you from other followers and commenters on that page as it is publicly visible on a top fans list on that page’s community tab. Perhaps it may be a proud moment for you. Actually, it’s a reward you get for being actively engaging with that page including liking, commenting regularly, sharing posts, or watching videos.

Although, it’s just a Facebook algorithm behind the selection of worthy Top fans. But for page owners, it might help to analyze their page and content popularity, marketing efforts, and most importantly the community’s engagement with their posts.

What is the Advantage of getting Top Fan Badge?

Most probably you also got a notification in your Facebook notification tab saying something like, “CONGRATULATIONS! You’re a top fan of this page now, Comment now to show your top fan badge to others”.

But why is this important for you? Well, it’s a bit contradictory to go on that side therefore I refuse to comment on this. But only you know how you are getting benefit from being a top fan of a popular Facebook page or a popular brand.

I think having a top fan badge may give you a greater chance of being heard by the brand owners. For instance, if you are a top fan of the Cristiano Ronaldo page which is insanely popular, this may give you the satisfaction that your interactions aren’t going unnoticed.

Now, I really want to know if you have a top-fan badge, how it feels? Is this exciting at all? or Does it help you anyway? Because being a top fan badge owner of some certain meme pages, I don’t feel anything at all. Or perhaps it is just me.

But still, if there is anything where Facebook is working great is reminding Birthdays and showing your memories to remind you how ugly you were with some creepy photos. Even the comment section now is filled with ‘Someone mentioned you in a comment’ or ‘someone reacted to your post’ or ‘There is a popular post you may miss’.

via- Uday Shigwan

Hopefully, we still have Instagram to continue posting shit on the walls. But that too for how long? Somethings wrong. I can feel it.

It’s been 5 months since the beginning of 2020 and things already changed a lot. Tables have been completely turned. But still, there are things that’ll change after Coronavirus breakdown.

This year brings a new world to us. I know it may not seems new to you know but as soon as this health crisis abates we’ll be in a new world. Previously I discussed the Dreams that came true in Coronavirus lockdown to show that these incidences maybe once in our life that will leave a great story to tell. But these incidences will change our perspective of seeing things.

Here I discuss some of these changes which I guess will add on to our lifestyle or which we may leave forever.

Health

The spread of global pandemic will make people more conscious of their health. As now you’ve already witnessed the situation that how people are taking every possible preventive step. The government also spent a lot to make people’s health awake.

There will be a huge demand for Sanitisers, masks & medical equipment. And I think it’ll be good if people will take these preventive measures. As they not only protect them from the virus but also from various other factors such as pollution & bacteria while going out.

Lifestyle

We are entering a whole new chapter of lifestyle. The lifestyle which some of you may have already adopted but not for a while. The significant changes you are seeing in your daily life, some of them will be permanent.

The social distancing which seems good now as a preventive measure might become a perpetual habit for some of us. The hesitation to attend social gatherings will be a concern for health-conscious people. But somewhere they’ll still be right to maintain a healthy lifestyle in this unhealthy world.

Medical Facilities

Sometimes worst situation describes what you really need more.

The healthcare sector is at the epicenter of this unprecedented global pandemic. But unfortunately countries are not up to the challenge. In fact, a lot of countries have to urgently import consumables and capital equipment.

But when it’s all over it is likely that Govt. will surely enlarge public health expenditure and medical facilities to ensure that whenever worst circumstances strike, we’ve already tightened the belts.

Education

One thing that worst affected in the lockdown is Education as schools & colleges are closed worldwide. It’ll result in late curriculum and exams. But all these happening cleared one thing that education has no boundaries.

The online education system really provides flexibility to students as they aren’t tied down to a fixed schedule and I hope even after lock-down, Educational institutions who still stuck in offline boundaries will provide a choice to the student of getting online classes & submitting assignments.

Environment

The only positive sign we have seen in 2020 is the healing of Earth. It shows that we are just guests here. Nature was, is, and will function with or without us.

Drop-down in pollution level in major countries is surely the best thing in this lock-down. But for how long? As soon as this all over pollution level will increase once again, the ozone layer will deplete once again, water bodies will contaminate once again and the animals who are now wandering freely will hide once again. If we still didn’t get this lesson then nothing can stop Human Extinction.

Economy

The outbreak of this pandemic creates a big shift in the stock market and pushing major economies to the brink. And that Govt. actions may not be enough to stop the decline.

Moreover the demand for oil has dropped significantly as lock-down has kept people inside. Oil prices turned negative for the first time in history.

Even after it’s all over it’ll take too much time to come out of recession. In fact, this recession will ingest millions of jobs and factories. Even IMF already said that the Global Economy will shrink by 3% this year and also declared this as the worst crisis since the Great Depression of the 1930s.

How Global pandemic affects Global Economy?:- https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2020/04/depression-global-economy-coronavirus/

Tourism

The major impact is on tourism as nearly every country imposed the restriction on tourism. Airlines cutting flights and customers canceling trips & holidays.

The travel has been badly damaged. Even after people will hesitate to visit other countries. And that’ll surely affect tourism worldwide.

Impact on Tourism by Weforum:- https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2020/03/world-travel-coronavirus-covid19-jobs-pandemic-tourism-aviation/

Trust

The most important thing that’ll change after this pandemic is ‘trust’ that we have on others. These situations have changed it all.

We lost trust somewhere.

Trust to buy things from strangers

Trust to shake hands & hug

Trust to travel together

Trust to gather together

Trust to visit neighbors

Trust to visit relatives

Trust to hanging out with friends

Trust to come together

After it’s all over the ‘trust’ factor will get missed and I think that’ll be the worst situation of Humanity.

It’s strange that we don’t even know where we are? and what will happen next? Changes are a part of life. But some changes will leave their dark mark on history that will remember till the ages.

World exists and everything that happens is for a reason. Things which is unimaginable or we can imagine today might be the tedium of daily life for some future generations.

But the things which we are seeing today are just normal for us. But there was a time when all these things considered as a miracle. So here brings you some incidents with rare but real photographs.

1. FIRST BATTERY

The first modern day battery was invented in 1800 by the Italian phyisict, Volta Alessandro. His invention was known as voltaic pile. The pile was made up of zinc and copper plates with vinegar or brine dampened between each plate.
