Here’s the inconvenient truth (and yes, that’s ironic, because this is supposed to be my “bio” speaking): every author bio you’ve ever read is a lie. Including mine. Including this one.

Not the dramatic kind of lie that ends up in headlines or family gossip. It is more like the little white lies we all tell – like when someone asks if we’ve read that famous book and we nod, even though it’s been collecting dust on the shelf for years.

Author bios work the same way: they are neat, polished, carefully cropped versions of who we want to be seen as, not who we actually are.

The Clichés of Author Bios

Once you start noticing the patterns, you can’t unsee them. Most author bios read like they came from the same slightly overworked intern at a publishing house. The structure is always identical. It starts with a profession, then sprinkles in a quirky hobby, adds a pet, and ends with a vague nod to productivity.

You know the ones:

“She loves coffee and long walks.” (Groundbreaking. Truly, who knew an entire species could be summed up by caffeine and pedestrian activity?)

“He lives with his cat in a cosy corner of the world.” (Which usually translates to: he pays rent somewhere and occasionally scoops a litter box.)

“They’re currently working on their next novel.” (Although, they’re currently scrolling Instagram and wondering if scrolling counts as “research.”)

I remember once flipping through the back of three different novels in a bookstore, and all three authors apparently lived in some version of a “quiet town with their loving family and pet.” For a moment, I thought maybe there was an actual Author Village somewhere, where writers lived identical lives in pastel houses with cats and golden retrievers, all sipping coffee as they “worked on their next novel.”

I sometimes think – If aliens read only author bios, they’d probably think Earth is a planet full of coffee addicts, cat owners, and people who are always ‘almost finished’ with their next big project.

Branding, Not Biography

The reason for this sameness is simple: author bios aren’t written to tell you the truth. They’re written to make you want to read our words.

They are branding blurbs disguised as personal facts. They take a messy, contradictory human being and shrink them into three sentences that sound interesting enough to convince you we’re worth your time.

That’s why the person who once went to Bali for a week immediately transforms into an “avid traveller.” The person who has written one short story in college suddenly becomes “passionate about literature.” And yes, I’m guilty too. I once described myself as “a morning person.” That was a straight-up fabrication. What I actually meant was: I woke up early once, and felt so proud of myself that I decided it was a new personality trait worth highlighting.

It’s not that bios are false in the malicious sense. It’s that they are selective. They exaggerate the quirky bits, polish out the flaws, and carefully align the author’s “brand” with what we think readers want to believe.

The Psychology of Self-Curation

But here’s the deeper part, and this is where it actually gets interesting. Author bios are just a miniature version of something all of us do every day.

We curate. We edit. We tell stories about ourselves, just as carefully as we write fiction. We cut out the boring chapters, highlight the dramatic ones, and occasionally embellish to keep things interesting.

Have you ever seen a dating profile? Nobody writes: “I get cranky when I’m hungry, avoid folding laundry until the last possible second, and spend too much money on delivery food.” Instead, they write: “I love new experiences and cosy nights at home.” Same person, very different story.

It’s not lying in the strict sense; it’s storytelling. We craft identities the same way we craft characters — selective, memorable, and a little more polished than reality. Because who, really, wants to hear about your deeply embarrassing playlist choices?

If Bios Were Brutally Honest…

Now, imagine for a second that we stripped away all the branding and told the truth in our bios. They would probably look a little more like this:

“She procrastinates daily and Googles ‘synonyms for beautiful’ far too often.”

“He lives with crushing self-doubt and occasionally opens Word documents before deciding a snack is more urgent.”

“They are not working on their next novel. They are, in fact, binge-watching Netflix and eating cereal out of the box.”

And honestly? I would find these bios far more comforting. At least they feel real.

So here’s mine, if we’re doing brutal honesty: “Ritish wrote this blog while travelling in a metro. He rewrote this very sentence seven times before deciding it was still not good enough. He enjoys the idea of long walks but mostly just walks to the fridge. He has a growing collection of unfinished drafts and books and an even bigger collection of snack wrappers on his desk.”

There. Now don’t you feel closer to me already?

A Story from the “Bio Closet”

I once had to submit a short bio for a magazine feature. You’d think, as someone who loves words, I’d nail it in five minutes. Instead, I sat staring at the blinking cursor for over an hour, debating whether to sound “professional” or “relatable.”

Do I mention my job? My hobby? That time I learned to juggle for a week before forgetting entirely? Do I try to be funny, or is that trying too hard? Eventually, I cobbled together something along the lines of: “He is passionate about storytelling and enjoys travel, photography, and meaningful conversations.” It looked nice, polished, professional.

But here’s the real scene at that moment: I was in sweatpants, surrounded by empty snack packets, rewatching The Office for the third time that year, and very much not in the middle of a meaningful conversation.

That’s when I realised something important: bios aren’t about telling me who I am. They’re about telling you who you might want me to be.

The Serious Twist

And here’s where I put down the jokes for a minute: if every author bio is a lie, then maybe every version of ourselves we put out into the world is also a lie — or at least, a curated story.

Your LinkedIn bio, your Instagram captions, the “About Me” you wrote three jobs ago, even the way you describe yourself to new friends. None of it is the whole truth. It’s just the version of the truth that feels useful at the time.

We are constantly editing ourselves. Not because we’re deceitful, but because real life is messy, contradictory, and rarely fits neatly into three sentences.

Maybe that’s the point. Just like in stories, we are all works in progress, revising our drafts as we go, adjusting our tone depending on the audience. The “bio” you see is only one version of me, but so is the one my friends see, or my parents, or even myself on a tired Monday morning.

So, What’s the Takeaway?

The next time you come across an author bio that says something like, “He loves sunsets and strong coffee,” don’t roll your eyes too much. Just remember: it’s not the whole truth. Behind that carefully written line is a person who has likely written it at 2 a.m., surrounded by cold tea, half-finished drafts, and a head full of doubts about whether anyone will even care to read it.

Including me. Especially me.

And maybe that’s okay. Because the truth is, none of us can be summed up in a neat little bio. The most interesting parts of who we are – the contradictions, the struggles, the unpolished bits – are the very things that never make it into print.

So, yes: every author bio is a lie. But every lie is also a story. And stories, in the end, are what make us human.

End of bio. Or at least, one version of it.

There are days when nothing extraordinary happens, and yet everything feels just right in a quiet, ordinary way. The coffee tastes exactly how it should. The inbox is not threatening your existence. You manage to write something without immediately questioning your life choices. For a brief and fragile moment, you exist peacefully inside your own head.

And then your brain clears its throat.

“Umm… remember that slightly awkward thing you said that one time?”

You don’t even know which time yet. That’s the beauty of it. Your brain keeps a fully catalogued archive of every socially questionable moment you have ever lived through, and it is more than willing to reopen the files.

In under thirty seconds, your perfectly fine mood has been escorted out of the building.

Step One: Take Something Completely Neutral and Make It Emotional

Let’s begin with something harmless.

You send someone a message. It could be about dinner plans, a manuscript, or simply, “Sure, that works.”

They reply with one word:

“Okay.”

Now, in a rational universe, this means agreement. Acceptance. Forward movement.

But you and I do not live in that universe. Instead, you stare at the word as if it contains hidden Morse code.

You begin to question tone, punctuation, and emotional temperature. Was it a warm okay or a reluctant one? Did it arrive too quickly, suggesting indifference? Too slowly, suggesting hesitation? The absence of an exclamation mark suddenly feels less like minimalism and more like a warning.

Within minutes, you are no longer responding to a word. You are responding to the story you have quietly built around it.

The mood you were enjoying a moment ago begins to thin.

Step Two: Expand the Narrative Beyond All Reason

Once the initial doubt enters, your brain does what it does best – it escalates.

It does not simply analyze the present moment; it projects entire futures based on microscopic evidence. It constructs possibilities with such confidence that you begin to mistake them for probability. What started as “Okay” slowly evolves into “Something is off,” which then grows into “This could change how they see me,” which, if left unattended, eventually becomes “This is how distance begins.”

If you are a writer – and I know many of you are – this step happens with alarming efficiency. You are trained to notice subtext, to sense tension in silence, to read meaning into pauses. Unfortunately, your brain does not switch off this skill in real life. It treats everyday conversations like drafts of a novel, scanning for conflict where none may exist.

Someone delays responding to your blog post. You interpret it as judgment. A manuscript receives fewer comments than usual. You interpret it as a decline. You reread your own paragraph from last week and wonder how you ever convinced yourself it was coherent.

Your imagination, which once served your creativity, now quietly collaborates with your anxiety.

And all of this unfolds before lunch.

Step Three: Recruit the Past as Evidence

Overthinking never travels alone. It always brings history along for reinforcement.

Your brain, ever thorough, begins flipping through old mental files. “Remember that conversation where you might have sounded dismissive?” it asks. “Remember that time someone misread your tone?” It pulls memories that were peacefully archived and replays them in high definition, adding new commentary with the benefit of hindsight.

I once sent a message that simply read, “Sure, sounds good.” It was efficient, polite, and complete. Within ten minutes, I had convinced myself it might have sounded cold, possibly detached, perhaps even mildly irritated. I considered sending a second message filled with excessive warmth and unnecessary emojis just to rebalance the emotional scales.

I did not send it.

But I did compose it in my head several times, revising punctuation and enthusiasm levels as if it were a short story competing for publication.

This is how quickly a calm mind becomes a courtroom, and you somehow play every role at once – the defendant, the prosecutor, and the judge who is disappointingly strict.

The Writer’s Edition of Mood Sabotage

For writers, there are additional premium features included in this mental package.

You publish something you feel quietly proud of. One person comments. A handful like it. The rest remain silent. Instead of appreciating the connection that did happen, your mind becomes fixated on what did not. Silence morphs into commentary. Lack of response becomes interpretation.

You compare your early draft to someone else’s tenth book and conclude that perhaps goat farming offers a more stable career path. You reread a sentence you loved yesterday and question whether you were temporarily delusional.

Writers do not simply overthink events. We overthink potential reactions to events that have not occurred yet. We revise conversations before they happen. We imagine interviews in which we answer brilliantly. We rehearse disagreements we win flawlessly.

It is exhausting. And oddly impressive.

The Slightly Uncomfortable Truth Beneath the Humor

If you’ve ever searched for how to stop overthinking, you already know the irony of trying to think your way out of thinking.

We do not ruin our moods because we are careless or dramatic. We ruin them because we care – about being understood, about not offending, about not failing publicly, about not repeating past mistakes. The brain believes that if it analyses every angle in advance, it can prevent embarrassment, rejection, or loss.

It cannot.

But it is committed to the effort.

In doing so, it pulls the past into the present and drags the future into the present until there is barely room left for the moment you were actually enjoying. The simple pleasure of a calm morning becomes overshadowed by hypothetical scenarios that have not asked for your attention.

And the irony is painful: we sacrifice present peace in exchange for imagined preparedness.

Other Efficient Methods to Ruin a Good Mood

If overanalyzing tone feels too ambitious for today, there are quicker alternatives.

Compare your Chapter One to someone else’s Book Nine and decide you are behind in life.

Open social media immediately after feeling productive and measure your worth against curated timelines.

Ask yourself, “Is this as good as I get?” while staring at something you completed with genuine effort.

Replay a minor awkward moment from years ago and assume everyone else remembers it as clearly as you do.

None of these requires external crises. They require imagination and gladly you have plenty of that.

Perhaps the Most Radical Move

Perhaps the most ironic part of this whole system is that we often ruin good moments while trying to protect ourselves from bad ones.

We sacrifice peace in exchange for hypothetical preparedness.

And yet, the moments that truly shape our lives rarely announce themselves in advance. They do not ask to be overanalyzed. They simply happen.

So if you ever feel your mood slipping for no visible reason, there’s a good chance your brain has simply started rehearsing a future that does not exist.

It is very good at that.

But maybe you don’t have to attend every rehearsal.

If you want to ruin a good mood in under thirty seconds, overthink it.

If you want to keep it, let one thought pass without cross-examining it.

Just one.

For writers especially, that might be the most rebellious act of all.

You ever look back at an old problem and think, “Wow, that version of me really thought the world was ending?” Like that time you spent an entire night overthinking a text, rewriting it twenty times, sending it, and then refreshing the chat like it was a stock market ticker.

Now, years later, you can’t even remember what the conversation was about. Or the time you were convinced your college grades would define your future, only to realize the person who barely passed accounting is now running their own business and you can’t remember where your mark sheet even is.

Or maybe it was the “big fight” with a friend that had you rehearsing comebacks in the shower for weeks, only for the two of you to eventually laugh about how dramatic you were.

It’s ridiculous how serious everything feels in the moment. But give it a few years (or even a few months) and the same events that once made you panic become your favorite stories to tell at dinner. What once made you cry now makes you laugh. It makes you wonder, if we’re destined to laugh about it later, maybe we can start laughing a little sooner.

Every Crisis Has an Expiry Date (and Becomes a Story Later)

There’s this strange thing about time – it doesn’t change what happened, but it changes how we see it.

Think about your “worst day ever” from five or ten years ago. The one that made you swear life was out to get you. Maybe you were fired, dumped, embarrassed, or broke. You thought you’d never recover. And yet here you are – alive, wiser, possibly sipping coffee, and able to tell that story like a stand-up comic.

I think, time doesn’t just heal — it edits. It trims the emotional chaos, adds a bit of irony, and leaves you with a surprisingly funny story. The pain fades, the absurdity stays.

That’s the beautiful cruelty of it, the moment feels serious only because we’re living it in real time. Give it a little distance, and you start seeing the humor in how dramatic we humans can be.

The Universe Has a Dark Sense of Humor

Sometimes I think the universe is secretly running a long-form comedy show and we’re all just characters learning our lines on the spot. Ever noticed how life has impeccable timing?

Lose your keys? They were in your hand the whole time.
Missed your bus? That’s the day your ex happens to drive by.
Spend weeks preparing for a presentation? The projector dies five minutes in.

There’s an unmistakable irony in how life plays out. The more we try to control the script, the funnier it gets. Maybe the universe isn’t that cruel. Maybe it’s just trying to make us laugh, and here we are – keep missing the joke.

The Ego Is a Terrible Comedian

The reason we take things so seriously is because our ego thinks everything is about us. It whispers, “Everyone’s watching you. Everyone’s judging.” That awkward thing you said in a meeting? You think everyone remembers, they don’t. They were too busy worrying about their own awkward moments. Your “big failure”? In someone else’s story, you were just a background character walking by with coffee.

The day you realize that not everyone is watching you – you’re free. You can start living a little lighter, talking a little bolder, and laughing a lot sooner. The ego hates it, but your peace of mind loves it.

When You Can Laugh at It, You’ve Already Won

People often mistake humor for denial, but it’s actually awareness in disguise. Laughing at something painful doesn’t mean you’re denying it. It means you’ve stepped far enough back to see the bigger picture.

That’s why the wisest people are often the funniest. They’ve seen enough absurdity to realize that life rarely goes according to plan, and instead of resisting it, they learned to dance.

The “Five-Year Rule” That Saves Sanity

Here’s a simple trick I try to remember: whenever something feels too heavy, I ask myself, “Will this still matter in five years?”

If the answer is no, I remind myself that I’m probably inside a temporary storm that feels infinite only because I’m standing in the middle of it. And if the answer is yes, then I know this is something to face calmly, not dramatically — because serious things need clarity, not chaos.

It’s strange how simply pausing to ask this question can shrink a problem down to its real size. It turns out, most of what we call “crises” are just exaggerated moments of fear. In five years, we’ll call them “character development.”

Make Humor a Habit

People think some are “born funny.” I don’t buy that. Humor is a habit, its a way of noticing life’s odd details instead of reacting to them. It’s not about cracking jokes; it’s about seeing irony in the everyday.
A year ago, I wrote a piece about how humor can be your sixth sense, where I discussed how your sense of humor can makes you stand out in thr crowd. It is like an additional skill that you acquire naturally, genetically, or even perhaps forcefully.

I highly recommend you to read this too: Your Sixth Sense of Humor

So, what I’m saying is that you can actually train yourself to find humor in chaos. Next time you spill coffee, miss a flight, or embarrass yourself, try narrating it like a stand-up comedian in your head. (“So there I was, trying to look professional, with latte art all over my shirt…”)

Laughter shifts your perspective. It turns problems into anecdotes and mistakes into wisdom. It’s the most affordable therapy out there.

Life’s Punchlines Always Arrive Late

The best punchlines in life rarely come on time. Sometimes it takes months or years before you get the joke. The heartbreak that once shattered you now makes you grateful for the lessons it carried. The rejection that stung later turns out to be a redirection to something far better. The mistakes that once made you cringe become the very things that give your story flavor and depth.

I find it funny, that the things we most wanted to avoid are often the things that built us. Life, in its odd sense of humor, doesn’t give you what you want; it gives you what you’ll laugh about later.

Maybe the secret isn’t to stop taking life seriously, but to start taking its comedy more seriously. Everything you’re panicking about today, or at this particular point in time, is probably just another setup for a future story that begins with, “You won’t believe what happened…”

So laugh a little sooner. Find the absurd in the chaos. Treat your problems like characters in a sitcom you’re starring in – not villains out to get you. Because the truth is, no one gets out of this life with all the answers, but those who learn to laugh along the way tend to enjoy the ride a lot more.

Now there is the song I wrote
I hope you learned it note for note, like good little children
Don’t worry
Be happy
Now listen to what I said, in your life expect some trouble
But when you worry, you make it double
But don’t worry
Be happy, be happy now

Oh, Mondays. The day that everyone dreads. The day that makes people groan and complain. But why, you may ask? Well, let me tell you, there are so many reasons to hate Mondays.

First of all, if you’re a corporate person, then Monday is definitely the day you want to skip from your week. This day is universally hated at work, although it has nothing to do with your love for your job, instead about that you don’t feel like working on Mondays. You want to stay relaxed after a relax on weekends.

Do You Too Have Monday Blues?

Yes, the Monday blues. What’s not to love about feeling down and uninspired on the first day of the workweek? It’s like having a constant rain cloud over your head but without the refreshing rain. Instead, you get to trudge through your day, counting down the hours until you can crawl back into bed and pretend that the week doesn’t exist.

And let’s not forget the joy of having to put on your “professional” face and pretend that you’re actually happy to be there. It’s like wearing a mask but without the cool superhero powers.

I even asked my friend one Monday morning – “Why do people hate Mondays so bad?”

And he said – “Well, who wouldn’t love Mondays? It’s the start of a new week filled with endless possibilities, fresh challenges, and the opportunity to sit in traffic for hours on end. Plus, who doesn’t enjoy waking up before the sun rises, dragging themselves out of bed, and putting on their best fake smile to face the day? And how about the thrill of checking your overflowing inbox, attending endless meetings, and feeling like you’re getting nowhere fast. I mean, come on, Mondays are the best – if you’re a masochist!”

Well, that was the answer I would have never expected from him, but I think he’s kinda lost it too.

Anyway, there are hundreds of reasons on the internet why we dislike Mondays too much, but here are a few of them that I find too interesting to mention.

Reasons Why Do We Hate Mondays

1. Nobody likes to get up early

Who doesn’t even like that sweet morning sleep? Is it me or just the bed seems like you’re floating on a cloud. Waking up at the crack of dawn to start another mundane week of work or school is just the highlight of everyone’s week.

I mean, who wouldn’t want to leave their warm, cosy bed to face the drudgery of Monday morning? It’s not like we all have better things to do, like sleep in or enjoy our weekends or anything. Nope, it’s all about those early mornings. So much fun!

2. You have a lot to do this week

People hate Mondays because it marks the start of a new work week, which means they have a lot to do. After a weekend of fun and relaxation, it can be tough to switch back to work mode and face all the tasks and responsibilities waiting for them. The thought of tackling a mountain of work can be overwhelming, and it’s easy to feel demotivated and down.

3. No more Netflix and chill

After a weekend of binging on their favourite TV shows, Monday means it’s back to work and no more lounging on the couch.

4. Your boss is a real jerk

The classic “my boss is a real jerk” reason for hating Mondays. We’ve all been there, haven’t we? It’s like clockwork – as soon as Monday rolls around, you can feel your blood pressure rising as you prepare to deal with your unpleasant boss. But hey, let’s look on the bright side – at least your boss is consistent, right?

5. The Monday hangover

After a weekend of indulgence, Monday is the day when we have to face the consequences of our choices and drag ourselves to work with a pounding headache.

6. The Struggle to Remember Basic Social Skills

After spending the weekend in our pyjamas binge-watching TV, Monday is the day when we have to put on real clothes and try to remember how to interact with other human beings.

7. The Monday morning Email avalanche

Monday is the day when we have to face a never-ending stream of emails that somehow accumulated over the weekend.

Well, Weekends Aren’t So Great Either!

No doubt, weekends are a great time of the week. Those 2 days when we can finally relax and unwind after a long, stressful week. But let’s be real here folks.

The weekends aren’t all they’re cracked up to be. Sure, you may be able to sleep in a bit later, but what about when your brain decides to wake you up at the crack of dawn anyway? I mean, WHY? Stupid brain.

And sure, you may have more time to do the things you love, but before you know it, the weekend has flown by in the blink of an eye. So yes, we hate Mondays. But let’s not forget that the weekends aren’t so great either. At least on Mondays, we have a legitimate excuse for being grumpy and unproductive.

Why Everyday Feels the Same and How it Contributes to Our Monday Blues

Have you ever experienced a sense of deja vu, where every day seems to blend together and feel the same? It’s a common phenomenon that many of us can relate to where every day feels the same sometimes. Our routines and daily habits can make each day feel like a repeat of the one before.

And this feeling can be a major contributor to why we hate Mondays so much. After a weekend of trying to break free from our routines, we’re suddenly thrust back into the same monotonous cycle. The same commute, the same desk, the same coworkers, and the same tasks. It’s no wonder that Mondays can feel like such a drag.

So tell me now – why do we hate Mondays so much? Is it the start of a new workweek? The end of our precious weekends? The realization that we didn’t accomplish everything we set out to do last week?

Maybe it’s all of the above.

But as much as we love to complain about Mondays, let’s remember that we’re not alone in our misery. There’s a reason why “Monday Blues” is a common phrase.

But fear not, my friends. As long as we can find humor in our struggles and work to break up the monotony of our daily routines, we’ll make it through each and every Monday.

And who knows, maybe we’ll even learn to appreciate the start of a new week. (But let’s not get too ahead of ourselves, okay?)

What if I say that you are already a genius, you just don’t know or never realize it before? Would you believe me? Well, you should because you might be having these signs that already make you different from others around you.

What does Genius mean in general? Just being Intellectual? Having a higher IQ? Being productive, or being creative and original? Science says there is no precise definition that can define genius. But there definitely are some traits to make an uncommon one out of common qualities, that you might possess but aren’t self-aware of yet.

We’ve all pictured a ‘genius’ in our own way. If you’re a story writer, you may portray geniuses as both protagonists and antagonists. You may also think of your role model and favorite person when you hear of a genius. It might be different for different people. You can’t just define ‘Genius’ based on a level of intelligence and higher IQ, of course, they are a prerequisite, but it is way more than simply defining intelligence.

As there is no scientifically precise definition, it may also indicate that you may possess such qualities and skills that the world isn’t aware of yet, including you, and perhaps that’s why you limit them just to yourself. And also feel uncomfortable talking about them. But if you realize and lift up the external pressure, then things become much clearer; it’ll all start to make sense.

I’ve summed up some of these unqiue traits here:

Do you carefully listen to the people while in the conversation instead of thinking about what to say next? Possibly no, because we keep processing words in our minds to give an instant reply.

That’s why talking to a genius can be tricky, as they always listen first and can challenge your way of thinking, and then the words that you’ve processed become of no use. If you’re a quiet and careful listener, it indicates that you have exceptional qualities that most of us don’t possess.

You Assume Everyone is As Smart As You Are

This can be tricky, but it always remains a fact that dumb or less-skilled people always overestimate themselves, whereas smart ones always underestimate themselves or sometimes even possess low confidence perhaps they thought that if it was easy for them, then it was easy for everyone.

The more we study, the less we know about it; the more you know, the more you realize how much you don’t know. In scientific terms, it is called the Dunning-Kruger Effect. It simply means that you might actually be smart, but seeing others in confidence makes you assume that everyone is as smart as you are. One could ask How would I know- Am I Smart or Dumb? Here’s how:

Related Post- Smart or Dumb?/ Dunning-Kruger Effect

You Are An Abstract Thinker

You’re specific and never satisfied with a single vague idea that sort of makes sense. Perhaps you listen to advice and ideas, but you are well aware that advice or Ideas may resonate with one person while they might not make sense to others.

We are all unique and at different stages of life, and require different solutions. However, it’s good to listen to advice as they are offering a perspective. But one must know that these are highly generalized statements. It doesn’t mean that if something works for others, the same thing works for you too.

It depends on the situation you are currently living in. You must listen to other ideas and advice, as they’re offering you a different perspective, but always come back to the conclusion you yourself are living in. This shows that you know how to think outside of the box that ‘ordinary’ can’t.

Related Post- The Best Advice I’ve Heard So Far

You Enjoy Being Alone

If you truly know the difference between being alone and being lonely, then you already know how to make the best out of your life. Both sound the same but have a huge difference that ‘ordinary’ possibly never realized.

Being alone doesn’t always indicate you are antisocial or introverted; it simply means you put your alone time to good and productive use. You have a different way of utilizing your alone time, rather than worrying that nobody cares for you.

You Are A Space Person

You think a lot about the universe and unknown things that don’t even exist yet, and have a strange sensation about how significant and insignificant everything can be (Also watch Christopher Nolan’s movies). Being a space enthusiast, your mind is already wide open and ready to visualize things that no ordinary human mind is capable of.

It may sound a bit strange, but if you think, you have that mind and interest in those things that are quite strange and philosophical, while for others, it’s kind of pointless for now. This means you are already ahead of their time.

You Have Your Sixth Sense Of Humor

Humor is not childish, definitely not. It is way more than what you think it is. People say that being funny is definitely a quality that requires intelligence. The part where intelligence becomes correlated with humor is when a certain joke is cleverly crafted that it takes a person some time to know the exact wordplay.

Having a good sense of humor is a key ingredient in creative thinking. So, don’t hesitate to use your sense of humor. Not everyone has those skills. If you have them, make sure you utilize them to stand out in the crowd. I’ve previously written about the significance of having a sense of humor. You can read it here:

Related Post- Your Sixth Sense Of Humor

You Are A Productive Overthinker

Let me say, overthinking is completely normal unless you make this a perpetual habit. But one thing you should know is that the human mind is so powerful that it can think of 30000-70000 thoughts a day, but most of them are completely useless & unproductive.

If you are a productive overthinker and know exactly how to think, then you might already be a genius. Being a genius doesn’t mean that you know the answer; it means you know a lot of questions and have the curiosity & passion to find the answers.

There are chances that you might stumble upon different answers that no one has ever thought about before. This leads to new discoveries and inventions for the rest of the world. And I think that’s what genius does in general.

Not To Mention,

You may acquire a genius gene from your parents, which they’ve passed on to you. Scientifically speaking, a part of your intelligence comes from your genetics. Genes impact the way your brain is developed. It’s likely that if any of these traits your parents acquired are now yours. And you don’t realize it yet, but in time you’ll just know how much.

This might be a quirky thing to say, but if you love listening to soft background music and love creating a soothing ambience around you while concentrating on something, then it might indicate that your mind is working perfectly fine and way more active than others.

The journey of being a genius starts with self-awareness of how capable you are. If one realizes this, one can be assured that one has plenty of growth potential.

A Secret

You might have listened so many times that you are a daydreamer, you can do anything and the word ‘genius’ is thrown around all too cheaply. But in fact, the tag of a ‘Genius’ is uncommonly rare to get, until you perceive those dreams, ideas, or whatever and are able to connect all the dots.

In fact, a genius is not someone you see every day, and when you do, you won’t even notice them. As I said before, having a sign of intelligence and a higher IQ is just a part of being a genius; these aren’t conclusive that define genius, but these have very little to do with it.

But the saddest part is that your character and poles apart thinking often might not be recognized by people, and even you, as a result of always trying to fit into the world. Perhaps it was your way of schooling, social pressure, or anything. Think about how often these people get laughed at in the moment.

“It’s only you to recognize you.”

Michael Michalko, the author of the book Cracking Creativity says that the difference between Genius and Ordinary is that Genius simply knows how to think, instead of what to think.

Now, let us know what you think about it.

Joe from Texas, an average guy with an average job, one day came home and filmed himself petting a cat… for THREE HOURS. Not because he’s trying to be famous, but because his cat, Mittens, demands it. And guess what? The internet LOVED it. Joe’s cat-petting videos have more views than all of our blogs combined

Now, Joe is an influencer. Why? Because people who watched his videos started doing the same thing to their pets “for no particular reason, of course.” The whole internet is now petting their pets in front of cameras for longer and longer hours. And it all started with just one legend, “The Joe,” who randomly posted his cat-petting sessions.

A few years ago, I wrote this article about the awesomeness of being socially awkward, where I stated that we all feel awkward in our own way and have done something completely different that made us stand out. But it’s actually awesome! Some of the readers didn’t agree back then.

Now, that all seems to come true. So, I was right!

Want to read that article? Check this out – The Awesomeness of Being Socially Awkward

The truth is that people love the weird and wonderful. We live in a time where falling asleep mid-snack on a live octopus can make you a meme. Influencers aren’t these flawless people with perfect lives anymore.
The internet has a special talent for turning our most awkward moments into gold. Therefore, the chances of becoming an accidental influencer today are pretty high. All you need is just throw out your inner animal, do unnecessary things, post useless stuff, act weird, fight with random people, and that’s it. The majority of these social media users will definitely pull you up. Meantime, your followers will skyrocket. Easy Job!

Before you know it, your face is everywhere, captioned with something like, “When you realize it’s Monday again.”

That’s how you’re gonna become an accidental influencer, sometimes without even trying.

You won’t believe what I actually did for science. A few days ago, I was scrolling through Instagram. And I saw this reel with a faceless dude (seriously, no face, just pecs), saying “Yo, I’ll do one pushup for every follower I get!”. I checked out his profile. The dude had about 120 followers. No biggie, right?

Fast forward a week, and his followers shot up to a whopping 120K. But the twist is, he didn’t drop and give us a single pushup after that. Not one. Zilch. Zero. Now, instead of sweating it out, he’s living the influencer dream, partnering with all the big fitness brands.

Moral of the story? The internet is a wild place, and sometimes, all it takes is a vague promise and a lack of follow-through to become an Insta-famous…well, something.

Just, Don’t Stop!

The more you share your absurd antics, the higher your chances of going viral. It might take days, weeks, or even years, but persistence is the name of the game. The internet never sleeps and is always hungry for new absurd content. You don’t need to put out quality content when absurd content is doing much better, don’t you?

Train every day. Share every day. Your goal is to flood the internet with your unique brand of ridiculousness. Eventually, the algorithm will notice. And you’ll be the accidental influencer soon.

As for the genuine influencers and content creators who unite day and night to provide quality content, you’re doing great. But you can’t outplay these new-age accidental influencers.

Don’t ask now why people suddenly started liking this absurd content more than the original. There’s no concrete explanation. It’s just what it is. Perhaps Mark Zuckerberg is the right person to ask this question.

Humans are Indeed Weird

I’ve said this several times, humans are indeed the weirdest creatures to walk on Earth. If aliens were to visit the planet, they would be surprised to find how weird we are. I posted this several months ago – 16 Reasons Why Humans Are Weird.

Now I think I have found another reason to add it to this list. What do you think?

“I told my wife she was drawing her eyebrows too low. She looked surprised.“

Well, don’t get confused it’s just another ‘Dadly Joke’, Oh! I mean ‘Dad Joke’, I heard just an hour ago.

Dad jokes are a staple of the internet and for good reason. They’re funny, they’re cheesy, and they’re always guaranteed to get a groan or two. But what is it about dad jokes that makes them so addictive? And why are they so powerful?

I’ve had this question so many times. Turns out, the science behind dad jokes is as fascinating as a squirrel attempting to do stand-up comedy!

There’s actually a lot of science behind dad jokes. For one thing, they’re often based on puns, which are a type of wordplay that tricks the listener’s brain into expecting one thing and then delivers something else. This unexpected twist is what makes puns so funny, and it’s also what makes them so addictive.

And, have you ever noticed? Dads often deliver their jokes with an air of innocent seriousness, as if they genuinely believe they’re sharing a revelation. This creates a delightful juxtaposition between the mundane setup and the punny punchline. Our brains adore this pleasant contrast, making dad jokes memorable and hard to forget.

The Dad Joke That Shaped Me

I can personally attest to the power of dad jokes. My dad is a master of dad jokes, and he used them to great effect. He always told me dad jokes when I was feeling down, and they always made me laugh.

He also used dad jokes to teach me valuable lessons, like the importance of being kind to others and the importance of never taking yourself too seriously.

It all started on a rainy day when I was feeling as gloomy as a cat without its yarn ball. That’s when my dad dropped this classic:

“Why did the scarecrow win an award? Because he was outstanding in his field!”

Later that night, he asked when a joke would become a dad joke. Before I could respond he said, “When it becomes apparent”

At first, I rolled my eyes so hard I think I saw my own brain. But then it dawned on me – life’s problems are like a tricky maze of words. Sometimes, all you need is a punny perspective to find your way out.

Thanks to my dad’s knack for corny humor, I discovered that even the most challenging situations can be tackled with a sprinkle of silliness. Isn’t it?

And who knows, maybe one day I’ll be the one delivering dad jokes that leave everyone in stitches… or at least rolling their eyes with a smile! The sense of humor is also an essential trait for human beings.

So next time you’re feeling down, or you need a way to diffuse some tension, try telling a dad joke. You might be surprised at how well it works. And who knows, you might even teach someone a valuable lesson along the way.

Also, my dad told me to put this another dadly joke at the end of this post, so here it is –

What did the buffalo say when his son left for college?

Diwali is just around the corner, and while the festive spirit fills the air, so does the arrival of relatives and in-laws. The thought of having your loved ones around might bring a warm glow to your heart, but you can’t deny the inevitable chaos of hosting a houseful of guests.

And I think, in my case, every Diwali is full of such memories and anecdotes with my family and friends. It feels like “I’m the chosen one” for all the Diwali chaos there is in the universe. And believe me, most of the time – it’s because of my relatives.

Therefore, every year I come up with a brilliant plan to survive the relative’s journey to our home. However, it is different that it all goes in vain at the end of the day. But I think I must share those tactics with you all, maybe, just maybe, it’ll work for you if you’re in the same place as me.

Some of My Diwali Mishaps

I remember last to last year my parents hosted Diwali for the extended family. My mother, a perfectionist to the core, had spent weeks planning and decorating the house. However, the universe had other plans.

As the guests arrived, the doorbell rang constantly, I don’t remember exactly if the doorbell had gone mad or otherwise. And then, my aunt (can’t tell her name, surely she’s reading this), known for her clumsiness, tripped over a stray diya, sending a cascade of oil and glitter across the newly polished floor.

This doesn’t stop here, my cousin, a mischievous six-year-old, decided to experiment with the diyas, turning the living room into a smoky haze. So, It was quite a Diwali celebration that year.

On another Diwali, my brother, tasked with lighting the diyas, got a little overzealous, creating a miniature fireworks display in the living room.

One year, my family decided to deep clean the house before Diwali, vowing to leave no stone unturned. We moved furniture, pulled out appliances, and even tackled the dreaded attic.

However, the ambitious cleaning spree resulted in a layer of dust settling everywhere, making the house look dirtier than before. I was happy that my parent yelled at me and my brother that day for no reason

And then one Diwali, my cousin got so excited during the puja that he accidentally knocked over a bowl of holy water. It splashed all over my grandmother’s antique rug, and we watched in horror as she yelled, “The spirits are not going to be happy about this!”

The Art of Survival

So, how do you survive the relatives and in-laws visiting your home during Diwali?

Tip 1. Remember, the relative invasion is temporary

They will eventually pack their bags, return to their homes, and leave you to your peaceful existence. Until then, take solace in the fact that you are not alone. Every family goes through this Diwali ritual, and we all come out stronger (or at least more resilient) on the other side.

Tip 2. Designate a “safe zone”

Create a quiet corner in your home where you can escape the festivities for a few minutes of peace and solitude.

Tip 3. Master the Art of Nodding and Smiling

When you have no idea what your great-uncle is talking about, just nod and smile knowingly. Who knows, he might be discussing ancient Sanskrit poetry or just giving you directions to the nearest grocery store. Nodding works either way.

Tip 4. Keep a “Random Trivia” Notebook

Create a notebook filled with random trivia and facts. Whenever a conversation takes an awkward turn, casually interject with a bizarre fact like, “Did you know honey never spoils?”

Tip 6. Invest in a noise-canceling headset.

For those moments when the conversations get too loud or the opinions too strong, having a noise-cancelling headset handy can be a lifesaver.

[Please note none of these has worked for me, they always overpowered my ideas]

To be honest, despite the chaos and mishaps, Diwali is a time for celebration and togetherness. So, when your relatives and in-laws descend upon your home this Diwali, take a deep breath, relax, and enjoy the ride. After all, it’s the memories we create that make Diwali truly special.

[I have to say this at the end, you might know why]

So, take a deep breath, put on a smile, and enjoy all the quirks and chaos. After all, it’s a Happy Diwali!

Is it written in stone that a writer’s life must be serious? Well, if you’ve ever tried your hand at stringing words together to create stories, articles, or even this blog post, you find that there is a funny side of being a writer, that is hidden from their readers and audience.

Yes, being a writer is much more fun and funny than you might think! And I can say this after around 5 years of experience. This might not sound like a lot (which of course isn’t), but I learned what I could from this writing journey. And I can say I have my own amusing conflicts, anecdotes, and ‘word’ war that may seem serious from another’s POV but is actually pretty hilarious if I consciously think about it.

And, I believe many other bloggers, authors, writers or whosoever grabs a pen (Keyboard) once to write can relate to this.

1. The Dreaded Writer’s Block

Writer’s block is the bane of every writer’s existence. It’s that feeling when you sit down to write, but nothing comes out. You stare at the blank screen, trying to think of something to say, but your mind is empty. But don’t worry, writer’s block is only temporary. Eventually, the words will start to flow again.

Who hasn’t tried typing random words, only to realize they’ve created an unintentional haiku about llamas?

2. The Curse of Overthinking

I think it is time that ‘overthinking’ should be considered a part of writing skills in every resume and interview. Writers are notorious for overthinking the simplest of sentences. When I started writing, I started to overthink everything, like “Is ‘flabbergasted’ too strong a word for describing my character’s reaction to spilt coffee?”

And then someone from the blogging community told me “Congrats! you’re officially a writer now!”

3. Reading Your Own Work

Ever tried reading your own writing aloud? It’s a rollercoaster of emotions. One moment, you’re patting yourself on the back, thinking you’re a literary genius, and the next, you’re snorting with laughter at a cringe-worthy sentence. It’s like attending a stand-up comedy show with an unpredictable punchline.

4. The Plot Twist

So, you’ve planned your plot, outlining every twist and turn. But then, in the middle of writing, your characters decide to take the story in a completely different direction. It’s like they have a mind of their own! As an author, you find yourself in a hilarious game of literary tug-of-war with your own creations.

5. The Battle with Spambots

Every WordPress blogger knows the struggle of dealing with spambots. No matter how sophisticated your anti-spam tools are, you’ll still find comments like, “Great post! Check out my site for miracle weight loss pills!” It’s like a never-ending game of whack-a-mole with digital nuisances.

6. The Accidental Puns

As a writer, you’re bound to stumble upon puns unintentionally. J.K. Rowling herself might have chuckled when she realized that Professor Snape’s first name, Severus, could be read as “severe.” The moment you spot these linguistic gems is pure comedic gold.

Related Post – Unlock the Power of Your Sixth Sense of Humor

7. Social Awkwardness

Writing may be a solitary profession, but writers often find themselves in hilarious social situations. Take Neil Gaiman, who admitted, “I used to be a journalist, but I was a terrible journalist because I always wanted to put in funny bits.” Imagine him trying to interview a serious politician and slipping in a pun about the weather!

But you know, there’s a catch! Social awkwardness might sound like a serious deal, but in fact, there are some awesomeness of being socially awkward.

8. Hilarious Autocorrects

In the digital age, writers grapple with the infamous autocorrect feature. How many times have you sent a message only to realize that your smartphone transformed “I’m finishing my novel” into “I’m fishing for navel”?

9. The Vanishing Ideas

Sometimes, the best ideas come when you least expect them, like when you’re in the middle of a shower or doing the grocery shopping. I remember this one time when I was standing in the shower, minding my own business, when suddenly a brilliant idea struck my brain, as soon as I stepped out, grabbed a towel, and reached for a pen – poof! it vanished!

Related Post – How My Idea Vanish the Moment I Pick Up a Pen

10. The Obsession with Stats

Bloggers have a love affair with their site stats. It’s not uncommon to find yourself checking your daily page views and visitor counts more often than your social media. And when you see a spike in traffic, you feel like you’ve won the internet for the day!

11. Running Out of Ideas

You sit there, pondering life’s deepest mysteries, and you’re like, “I’ve done it all! I’ve said it all! There’s nothing left in the vast expanse of my mind!”. But then, like a magician pulling a rabbit out of a hat, you discover that there’s a never-ending wellspring of creativity.

So, I guess the well of creativity is bottomless, and writing is just a never-ending pizza party.

12. We are a Bit Crazy

Okay, maybe more than a bit. But that’s okay! Creativity often requires a certain amount of madness.

13. We get to Meet Other Interesting People

Writers tend to be a colourful bunch, so you’re sure to meet some interesting characters if you get involved in the writing community.

14. We Can Write Own Experiences, even the embarrassing ones

Sometimes, the best stories are the ones that are based on real life. So don’t be afraid to write about your own embarrassing experiences, as long as you can make them funny or relatable.

Of course, being a writer isn’t all fun and games. It’s a lot of hard work, and it can be very frustrating at times. But ultimately, it’s incredibly amazing to write down your perspective and imagination.

Just think, finishing a piece of writing and knowing that you’ve created something that other people will enjoy. So if you have a story to tell, don’t be afraid to put it down on paper.

Hope you enjoyed this post! Don’t forget to share your own funny side of being a writer, down below in the comment.

Let’s be honest for a while, we’ve all experienced at some point in our lives – the maddening phenomenon of ideas vanishing into thin air the moment we grab a pen.

I’ve been stuck in this phenomenon so many times that I don’t even recall how many. And as a writer, I can confidently say that I’m not alone in this.

It’s like trying to catch a butterfly with your bare hands, only to watch it flutter away, leaving you bewildered and empty-handed.

I remember this one time when I was standing in the shower, minding my own business, when suddenly a brilliant idea strikes my brain like a lightning bolt. I was convinced it was pure gold, the kind that will make my creative dreams come true. But here’s the catch: as soon as I stepped out, grabbed a towel, and reached for a pen to jot it down,

poof! It vanished,

leaving me staring at a blank page in utter disbelief. If you can relate, my friend, you’re in good company.

Or how about that time when you woke up from a vivid dream with a plotline so ingenious it could rival Shakespeare, only to watch it evaporate into the ether the moment you reached for a pen?

But why this happens? It’s a Mystery

I don’t understand what is this mystery but I guess there could be an explanation.

The most perplexing part is when inspiration strikes at the oddest of times and places. I’ve come to accept that inspiration has a wicked sense of humour, toying with us and disappearing into the abyss of forgetfulness. But hey, at least we can share a laugh over it.

I think, that the disappearing act of ideas can be somewhere related to overthinking and self-doubt. As soon as we set out to put our thoughts onto paper, our minds can become flooded with doubts and questions. Is this idea really as good as it seemed?

Another aspect to consider is the elusive nature of the “Eureka” moment. Holding onto that initial ideas can be a challenging task. Our minds are constantly buzzing with thoughts and distractions, making it all too easy for that fleeting idea to slip away as quickly as it arrived.

Moreover, ideas thrive in freedom and spontaneity. They flourish when our minds are open, allowing thoughts to flow naturally. Trapped on paper, they escape our grasp. Ideas are wild, untamed creatures that demand the freedom to roam and evolve.

I think, there’s a weird way to retain the idea

One time, while brainstorming with friends, we found ourselves in fits of laughter over a silly joke. Suddenly, a brilliant idea sparked amidst laughter. The joyful moment left a lasting imprint, etching the remarkable idea into my memory.

So, I guess this is a weird way to grasp the idea. The next time you feel the grip of frustration as an idea slips away, take a moment to embrace laughter. And who knows, maybe the laughter itself will become the source of inspiration, leading you to ideas that are as entertaining as they are brilliant.

Just a quick note to anyone reading this

To be honest, I’m writing this blog post randomly because earlier today I had an amazing idea to write about, but unfortunately, it slipped from my mind. Therefore, I’m writing this instead.
